My buddy asked me who would win if all the primarchs fought to the death. Alpharious and omegon are partnered but 1 has to die in the end. All pre heresy equipment and no demonhood. Imagine a giant arena with all of them inside. This is not a 1v1! This is a glorious free for all! place your bets!

I'm thinking Sanguinius, Horus, or Angron. Fulgrim is a solid contender too.

Assuming this is 1v1 it depends on who fights who in what order but I'd go with this -
Most likely to win: Lion, Horus, Sangiunious, Russ, Angron
Most likely to die: Konrad, Alpahrius/Omegon, Lorgar, Corax, Ferrus
Somewhere in the middle: Fulgrim, Guilliman, Vulkan, Magnus
Other Losers: Puterabo, Dorn, Khan, Mortarion ,

Vulkan would be tough to beat seeing he comes back from death(literally). Might be eternal war between him and more skilled though even weakest primarch was capable of winning up strongest depending on how battle would go on that day and since Vulkan essentially has unlimited days...Others would need to keep him from getting armed and armoured forever.

Why is this a contest? If it's an actual fight to the death then Magnus would flatten everyone.

I'm aware this is mostly a fluff battle, but on table top all the Loyalist Characters will likely have under 10 wounds and be un targetable and all CSM Primarchs are Daemons with 16+.
I can see Russ getting a Death Frenzy type rule so even if you do kill him, he will be able to strike back anyway.

Vulkan can't die so he will just keep coming back no matter what. I would say Magnus due to his psychic powers, but he did lose to Russ so that puts him down. If you don't count Vulkan coming back from the dead I think Corax or Omegon/Alpharius would win due to just being smart and hiding/avoiding conflict until the very end.
If you don't count Vulkan not being able to be killed or people hiding then I think Sangunius would take it. He has super mobility, tactical know how and is top tier as far as fighting goes. The only other guy I find truly in his league in the realms of pure combat is going to be Angron who would go berserk and get taking out by a joint effort or stabbed in the back from a more opportunistic person.

Russ wins.against any other.

Mostly because they had to give him brokenAF rules so he wouldn't just get steamrolled by magnus every time. Were not for his to hit modifier shenanigans he'd be middle of the road at best. Face the music, Russ is only good because Magnus is a god (as a result of 7e psychic powers being insanely powerful).

Pretty much any primarch can be killed by a fork given time. Vulkan however can at least come back. Along with from getting incinarated by titan etc. Other primarch can't. And as any primarch is capable of killing any primarch...There's no such thing as quaranteed win for any primarch against any primarch.

But that was due to Magnus not really wanting to kill Russ and having to hold off an entire army as well as fight Russ + his two dogs.

That's not really what he was doing. Freki and Geri died almost instantly and all he really did was change some water to acid temporarily. Magnus lost because he got stabbed in his eye and he lost his control. But I know people like to think Magnus is best ever and is the real hero of 30k.

I don't think he's the hero of 30k, but he's certainly an INCREDIBLE power amongst the Primarchs.
Don't forget, he was already distracted and didn't want to kill Russ. Russ, on the other hand, was all out for blood. And let's not forget, even holding back his punches, Magnus punched Leman Russ's heart, kept up a defensive field around both him and Russ, and killed both his wolves in one punch.

Maybe, maybe not. There was no primarch who wasn't capable of winning against Horus(or any other) on one on one duel.

In primarchs leman Russ, lion had him cold, soundly beaten and CHOSE not to kill him, he disarmed Russ and had the perfect opening to kill him, It then degenerates into a brawl lots of damage to the tyrants fortress and eventually Russ starts laughing and is knocked out.

In a free for all I don't think there would be any clear cut winner. Who's flavour of the month and who's annoying the others more than usual.
Curze and Perturabo both bundle Dorn so he's out.
Ferrus and Fulgrim fight together for awhile but Ferrus get's so annoyed at Fulgrim for criticizing him how he fights like a brute and has no finesse and whilst Fulgrim is staring at himself in a puddle he smooshes him with his hammer.
Omegon and Alpharius keep out of it mostly, hiding in plain site using their wily ways dressed as rocks or trees and just make an occasional cut and stab here and there, just biding their time.
Lorgar is trying to calm the whole thing down but everyone ignores him. It's like he isn't there. Even when he does manage to land a punch his brothers just seem to stare into the distance, straight through him.
Angron chases after Sanguinius who's having an air battle with Corax, Sangy notices this who flies over a canyon, not realising the gaping hole in front of him Angron goes over Wil e Coyote style.
The battle rages. Lorgar wins as no one noticed he was there.
Erebus comes back into himself after walking the 10,000 paths and realises that if he doesn't start the heresy none of Lorgars brothers will take him seriously.

Given the 40k era fluff currently available, it has to be Magnus easily.
That said, we've still got several Primarchs out there that aren't currently accounted for. Seems unlikely any are more powerful than Magnus, but you never know.
Honourable mention to Vulkan though, being a perpetual he probably eventually wins on a technicality one way or the other!

Yep, laugh all you like it’s in black and white, lion disarmed Russ and had the perfect killing strike and chose not to take it, Russ knows it, lion knows it. Automatically Appended Next Post: Stux wrote:Given the 40k era fluff currently available, it has to be Magnus easily.

As of old earth we don’t know if he is still a perpetual, he would need to die to see if he still has the ability to come back, quite the risk.
My personal opinion is that he is though.

The lion didn't win russ just realised how stupid the fight was and was busy letting out his frustrations through laughter when the lion autisticly raging sucker punched him.
Also the wolves were not killed by Magnus they are alive and well in the wolf king novel.

Ah haven’t read the book have you? Fair one.
Yes lion “won” the fight, he had the opertunity he chose not to take, the “sucker punch” came much later, after Russ through himself and Lion off the peak of the fortress, lion asked Russ if he “yielded” and Russ started to laugh, that’s when lion knocked him out, no sucker punch, the entire time lion was trying to prove a point, Russ could be so much more than just a killer, ironic, Since that’s what Russ was trying to teach angron.
