Funny, a good 1/3 of my 40k group is female. Maybe (and this is just crazy) wargaming has a larger appeal to males than females.

Here's how this conversation would go, IRL, in person:

Them: "Hey, please don't use that sort of language, it offends me."
Me: "Gosh, I'm sorry. I'll watch my mouth a little closer. I apologize for being insensitive."

But this is the internet. Asking the internet at large to be more sensitive to someone's plight is... woefully, emphasis on WOEfully, hopeless. For as much as people are calling this 'bait trolling' and the like, the fact of the matter is that the internet is where certain unfortunate ideologies *breed*.

To the OP: Try communicating with the people around you in your FLGS. Most people are reasonable in person and don't want to hurt other people's feelings. If they refuse, then don't hang out with those people. It's really as plain as that. The internet, however? You're just asking for all the creeps to come out of the woodworks. For every person that may read this and think "Golly, I didn't realize that was offensive" there will be 10 grognards that want to bash you for daring to enter 'their' hobby.

This is true. In real life, normally, people that just mean something as a joke will apologize if for whatever reason it offends someone. Is like when in school you called someone "son of a ****" and then his mom was dead. Just apologize and keep going, is not like you are gonna die for not using that word with that person.

Well, of course, if you are talking with someone and a third person comes and say "Ey, I have been offended by that", its a little strange. At the same time, a store is a public space, and I tend to behave myself in those spaces and avoid things that can be offensive. But we have also normally kids in the store, etc... so is different. In private spaces with my friends in the other hand... oh boy. I would go to jail if what I say there would see the light of the day.
