So a couple things have occurred to me about my army (IG/SM) 1 battalion of each

If a SM is my warlord can I use both Orbital bombardment and Preliminary Bombardment?

If I want 3 relics (1 IG, 2 SM) does it cost me 2 or 3 CP?

1) yup you can use both those strats. Having a detachment of each armies unlocks both sets, and you fulfill all requirements to use those two specifically.

2) it will cost 2 CP as they are different strats for the two sets of relics. Assuming one of the 2 SM ones is the free one for having a SM warlord.

1) Yes, you can (but both are a bit crap) because you have a SM detachment and an IG detachment.

2) You get 1 free for having the SM Warlord, then must pay 1CP for the SM relic stratagem and 1CP for the IG relic stratagem.

Preliminary Bombardment is niche but has its uses. If the enemy army is taking cheap MSU to the extreme it could be good value for only 2CP. If they're deep striking half their army and they've crammed the rest in to a handful of transports then not so much of course!

Orbital Bombardment is much riskier because of rolling the radius is affects, and it being reliant on your opponent bunching up units even then AND on your Warlord having line of sight AND not needing to move or shoot with your Warlord.
