Dynamite Entertainment has officially announced development of a miniature-based tabletop game based on Army of Darkness, the cult classic action horror film from Sam Raimi starring Bruce Campbell.

Designed by Lynnvander Studios (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Board Game, and Dynamite’s Re-Animator), Army of Darkness: The Board Game will see players take on the role of unlikely hero Ash Williams, the chainsaw-wielding, time traveling S-Mart employee. In this multiplayer game, Ash and his allies will lead an army of medieval knights against a horde of unliving Deadite zombies.

The core game is currently planned to include a large number of highly detailed miniatures and be supplemented with expansions, accessories, and other separately released components.

Further Details:

Army of Darkness will be a cooperative game for 1 to 4 players that can be played in 60 to 90 minutes. In this action-assignment area control game, YOU will play as Ash and his allies, and work together to fight off swarms of Deadites commanded by Evil Ash and Evil Shiela. Upgrade your defenses with modern technology from the trunk of Ash’s car, and stop the Deadites from overtaking the castle. Each turn, players have a limited time to simultaneously play move, attack, action, and special cards, in order to defend the various sections of the castle. After time is up, resolve your chosen cards, and play out your programmed actions, rolling dice to attack Deadites. Survive long enough to use the necronomicon to save Shiela, and take down Evil Ash to win the game!

....MORE TO COME.

If this will be on KS:

a) Do your best to distance yourself from Space Goat.

b) I'm not seeing miniatures production experience.

c) Maybe get more reviews of your previous games on BGG. Reanimator only has one light review, and Red Sonja hasn't been delivered yet.

Miniature games don't seem to be funding as well these months as earlier in the year, and even some licensed IP games didn't fund.

As I'm sure you're aware, Dynamite have no relation to Space Goat or their ED game, and in fact AoD is an entirely separate license than ED2, from a different licensor. We've been working with AoD since 2004, it was actually our first license. This game has been in the works for well over 2 years, but we wanted to tackle some smaller games before jumping into this one.

To your second point, Dynamite has been making comics, toys, and other collectibles for more than a decade. We're working with Lynnvander, who has their own expertise in miniatures, to make sure our figures will meet gamer's high standards.

Doesn't mean jack, I am afraid. "Experienced" companies have failed in this area before.

Some light reading on the matter:

Sounds like the AoD game is more of a board game than a true miniatures games. Based on what Lynnvander has put out with miniatures that is a good fit. None of their projects as far as I can tell are true miniatures games, though. They are all board games with miniatures included.

Lynnvander Studios is working with many great publishers in 2017. Below are a list of projects and their timelines;

Any way of getting some miniatures for "The Boys"?
