Fellow Dakkites
Does anyone know how apply a colored tint to Eldar vehicle windows? I'm finally getting to my storm cloud attack set and I have already painted the raised frame on the cockpit canopy but I want to add a cool green tint to the canopy. Ive seen some examples out there. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Well, the moust known metod is simply using Tamiya`s clear range as it has a desent look to it.
Best use of their product is the rattlecans in a very, very, very, very light layer.
or you can use gold or copper Alclad in a very, very light layer for a more shiney sci/fi look.

Tamiya clear paints take a bit of getting used to but do exactly what you want. The relatively new citadel gemstone effects seem to work in a similar way but less intense, so they might be perfect for what you need.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

This is what I tried, I'm not sure I', entirely happy with the effect though.
I painted the inside of the canopy in Waystone Green, it took a few coats to get it thick enough and smooth enough.
Then painted over that with Stormhost Silver to give it a mirrored look.
I will try and take a photo later.

I think the easiest way to make the cockpit look good is to simply paint it (from the inside). I've never seen a GW plastic canopy or cockpit which looked anything like glass or perspex...they just look like thick plastic. When it doubt, remove the see-through nature of the plastic.

I'd agree with @FrozenDwarf and @jonolikespie in using Tamiya clear paints. That's what i used for my Eldar vehicles.
If you want to see how it turned out here is my fire prism. I used it on both cockpits and the prism crystal. Apply it fairly liberally on the reverse of the canopy and let it run down the cockpit, avoid brushing as it will leave streaks, just hold it with a pair of tweezers / pliers and move the paint around until it sets.
