Would using the plastic helbrute be okay to use as a Contemptor Dreadnought? In your opinion of course. Or are they not similar in size?

They're different in size for sure, but that's up to you and the people you're playing.

Check with the TO they have the only and final say on the matter.

They are on the same base size? Outside of a Tourney, I don't see an issue as long as your opponent knows what they are.

Yeah, but at a tournament, such as an ITC event I don't think it'll fly without serious modification for you to justify it. Generally speaking you need to present the model as what it is. That's what I've heard, but I've no practical experience with an actual ITC event. Surely plenty of people here have been to one and can let you know.

Unlikely at an event. You never know though - my lfgs is very cool with proxies and mods and such.

Definitely not at an ITC event,

In casual play, though, I would need reminding, but it would probably fly.

I contacted the TO. He said no go. My local guys are generally okay with it though. So at least I can play test with that to see if I want to actually buy one or not.

Another question regarding the Chaos Contemptor Dreadnought. What do people usually use for the butcher cannon arm? The dual autocannon or kheres cannon?

As the Hellforged Contemptor dreadnought can take a twin autocannon as a wargear selection, I would use the Kheres Assault Cannon.

It can take Kheres as well. I was thinking I'd use the Kheres model and add some chaos-y bits to it.
