Does anyone else think it would be a far more useful heirloom if instead it could do a sweep attack like the Armiger Warglaives can do? I find that if you have the choice between using the chainsword or your stomp attack you are more apt to use the stomp for the greater amount of dice being rolled. This is of course my opinion, but I find more people gravitating towards using the gauntlet over the chainsword in many cases with the Gallant, and otherwise the stomp. I can see it being useful if you are running 2 Gallants as only one can have the gauntlet and one can have the chainsword, but in that case, if you choose to bring 2 heirlooms, one would be a ranged upgrade to your 3rd knight, not the upgrade to the chainsword.

Just my opinion, I just find the chainswords to be overall underwhelming and even the heirloom doesn't fix it like many other heirlooms do with their base weapons.

The normal chainsword is OK, I think it is overall better than the fist. -1 to hit is just a too big liability for a thing with a degrading profile. However, the relic fist is amazing and if you are going to take a melee relic in the first place, I really see no reason to not always take the fist.

Um... +2 additional Strength(Same strength as the Gauntlet) And reroll 1s to hit/reroll all misses for House Krast is very powerful.

we also have a strat for chainsword sweep; which can be done after a full round of stomping: A Gallant amidst Infantry is getting 15 Base strength, -2 AP, d3 damage attacks with a 1/6th Mortal wound on all units/model within 3" after these attacks for 1CP.

I really do not know what you are on about: Ravager makes a gauntlet redundant, besides Hurl; Honor's Bite is the Bad Chainsword Relic(Only making sense against single model targets, and providing less bonuses)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Ravager is obviously better than the regular fist, but I think Paragon Gauntlet is better than Ravager. The difference is Ravager getting reroll ones to hit, while the Paragon Gauntlet gets, +2 damage, enemy throwing and better stratagem over it.

I don't think Chainsweep is that great. If you're surrounded by hordes, you're gonna stomp first, so the enemy can then remove as many models as they can that are withing three inches of you. Deathgrip on the other hand is amazing. Sure, it is overkill in many cases, but it can be a game changer, it assures that the one thing you really deed to die ASAP does so, and it is even better with Paragon Gauntlet as that initial attack is more likely to hit.

Too many variables that are dependent on your opponent's actions for the math to be effective.

In a straight melee vs a single monster/vehicle the paragon guantlet wins out: to-hit, to-wound, and AP are all the same, only damage is different.

Against a multi-model unit, you are stomping about instead of using the melee weapon.

So the choice is: 5 points spent on the melee weapon yay or nay?.

If you are enacting the heirlooms strat, you can take both.

Also both strats(deathgrip and chainsweep) cost the same in CPs; they just effect different targets.

Crimson is correct that chainsweep can/will be mitigated by casualty removal
