Thanks for sharing. I missed this. Thing is, how is this News or rumour? I think we might get more conversations going if this was in General section. You got my heart going thinking a new codex is coming out and this says nothing of a new codex. Just Kill Teams to me.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

We know the codex is on the horizon, because we've seen the gunslinger cultist and the aberrants that were put on display in Warhammer World "by mistake". I wouldn't take this as confirmation of anything.

Probably still a few months away, I don't know what the current rumor trackers are saying.

So uh, the Chosen Sons is actually the GSC kill team that comes in the starter box. So this isn't related to the codex at all.

The GSC dex is definitely coming. A few weeks ago there was a teaser from the GW Community that looked like an Aberrant special character; GW will no doubt release the aberrants as a stand alone kit to support the character; the codex will be released at the same time.

The Overkill box has disappeared from the webstore- they didn't even move it to last chance to buy first- one day it was just gone.

I was looking forward to buying it, but it might not be bad to instead spend the 200on just GSC kits so I can get only the ones I really want.

The next two codexes are confirmed to be SW and Orks, so GSC are releasing on August 18 at the very soonest. That assumes that GW releases a 40k codex three weeks in a row, though, so it’s pretty unlikely it will arrive that soon.

My thoughts are we get a codex every two weeks at the soonest, which puts GSC into mid-September. Add in some multi week releases, AoS, or Adeptus Titanicus, and we slip into October.

Because it makes sense that an army that has never been a codex army should get a codex before any army that has been a codex army since 2nd ed.

The original intention was for Sisters to get shafted. They were going to get a regular, no-frills codex with zero new models; then the survey came out and GW went "oh gak this isn't just an internet meme" and changed the schedule so that Sisters will essentially be a brand new army with a complete plastic lineup. It doesn't make much sense to release a codex for an army who's models aren't out yet, so the codex gets delayed to match when the army is released in 2019.

Really, I don't see how "you're getting treated like a real army for the first time since 2nd edition" is Sisters getting shafted.

...Also GSC were an army in 7th so I'm not sure where you're getting the "never been a codex army" line from. The new armies in 8th are Death Guard and Thousand Sons, not GSC.

Genestealer Cults were introduced as a playable faction in RT, before Sisters (White Dwarf 116).

A Genestealer cult force from White Dwarf 124 (1990)

while officially gw has said the next codexs would be orks and wolves, i wouldn't fault anyone that hadn't done that much research to think the next codex was gsc.

seriously, the next codexes are ork and spacewolves, long standing armies with a strong backing of players who have been waiting patiently/impatiently since the start of 8th to get their time in the limelight, but soon after they are announced to be next we have got mostly nothing but gsc related stuff.

they release a "leak" video showing off some new gsc minis,
they focus the release of killteam with a majority of pics with gsc,
and the most recent article from regimental standard (while killteam related) is still focusing on gsc.

weirdly it seems gw has been trying to quietly hide under the rug that they announced the ork/sw codexs and are intending to release gsc instead.

this would've been the perfect time to focus every article on how cool and awesome orks and sw are. it doesn't even have to be rumors or leaks, it could be fluff articles and army showcases. they could've had the box cover killteam armies be sw and orks. build that hype for those codex that apparently they are releasing next. heck, this seemed like the pattern so far, they try to hype the next codexs with articles leading up to their releases....but what do we get?

we get them showing off just an ork booster box with an existing unit for killteam (a unit the ork player base is not very happy about due to its poor performance in 8th). spacewolves get a killtram starter but instead of iconic sw units its new primaris marines with no real differences then normal primaris marines, they could easily be mistake for non sw if they had a dif paint job.

oh, and let me not forget that recent facebook article that gw posted of kilakans...getting their squigs beaten into the ground by the new castelen knight.....

at this point i bet gsc will get the next codex...and gw will try to delete the community post that announced orks and sw (heck, its actually very hard to find, the article has no into pic or title that suggests codex reveals, witch are just a small footnote at the end of the article).

There's a rumour going around that Wolves & Orks will get very little with their Codex (unlike GSC) but they'll be an Wolves vs. Orks campaign box later on.

You are assuming SoB even come in 8th. All we know is that they have a codex coming 2019. They could easily be the fifth codex of 9th, behind SM, CSM, Eldar, and Guard.

not sure that'd be a bad thing for sisters mind you. right now 8th isn't even a year old, still a bit early to talk about the next edition IMHO

I would anticipate a bunch of add-ons for armies next year and then 8.5, which invalidates all of that, the year after that.

Why would it be 9th? Then can just keep going with 8th like they are with Chapter Approved to keep it going instead of having new editions. Do we really need new codicies so soon? I say let's get all the codicies out so people can play and then just make a great game instead of new editions all the time.

I epect we'll eventually get 9th but it'll be essentially "chapter approved deluxe"

There's a crowd that thinks GW is going to release 9th after all the codexes are out, so GW can... release the codexes again? I'm sure the players would be ecstatic about that.
