While saitting on my thumbs waiting for the Space Wolves codex to drop I've been doing some experimenting with list building.

Rather than just taking a Battalion with 2 HQ, 4 Troops, 3 Fast and 3 Heavy, I've toyed around taking Battalion with 2 HQ & 4 Troops, an Outrider with 2 HQ and 3 Fast, and a Spearhead with 2 HQ and 3 Heavy.

Now only does this give me two (count 'em, TWO!!!) more Command Points but it lets me add four more HQ choices. That's four more multi-wound models, most swinging Thunderhammers, hitting on 2s, and each with an Invulnerable save.

Is it worth it, in your estimation, to pay the extra points and get the extra Herohammers and the whopping two Command Points?

you could just take a supreme command detachment in addition to a battalion and get the HQs and an extra command point without a ton of stuff you might not want.

really depends how you wanna build your army. that said might be worth waiting for codex space wolves before doing anything tooo crazy

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Not sure about Wolves but I understand you can't go far wrong with Slamguinius.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Wolves have always been more of the Herohammer Marine army. Basically they want to run lots of HQ choices, and in previous editions where even encouraged to.

Might I be better off with three Wold Lords and three Wolf Guard, or two Wolf Lords, two Rune Priests, and two Wold Guard?

If you are thousand sons, the HQ is the best thing you've got anyway.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Definitely worth it- the HQ aren't tax, they provide auras; when you have few HQ, you don't get to send auras where they are needed.

In the sisters army, you've got elites like imagifiers, dialogi, hospitallers, and mistresses of repentance. They all provide buffs or abilities to nearby units, but on their own, they have vulnerabilities. But if you can reinforce them with HQ, the auras will stack.

If only sisters had a second generic HQ. As is, a pure sisters army can only include 4 detachments- three copies of the generic Canoness plus Celestine. If you field a Ministorum unit to lead non-sisters components of your army, Jacobus gives you a 5th leadership choice, but there is no generic priest HQ, so you can only have one such detachment.

I always wanted a four model Vanguard of Hospitalers; one would actually be a Canoness- you would just convert the model to look like a veteran hospitaler, where the hospitalers proper would be wearning identical livery, but they would have different poses- this wasn't really possible with the old metal hospitalers, but maybe there will be something in the new range.

Sisters really needs a 2nd HQ option.

No, that have that. She's called Celestine.

Either a junior Cannoness like a Mother Superior or some other kind of HQ like a psyker/antispyker.

I keep thinking she;s a lord of war. Sisters of Battle would never have a psyker, they will scorn the fact that Space Marines use them. I think a taint-seeker would be cool, kind of like a commissar/chaplain.

My vote is for something like a Choir leader who leads the army's hymns and chants who can serve as a support HQ choice who also brings anti-psychic to the army.

That and we need Palatines back (being the Sisters LT equiv).

"I think a taint-seeker would be cool"

A Sororitas "taint-seeker?"

There's a joke here, something about lesbians and tampons and Purity Seals and two inches of "'taint quite this 'n 'taint quite that."

All the elements are there, I just can't string it together.

We need the penetant brigade back, cannoness' are normally put on penetant engines, so they should be a ministorum and sororitas keyword.
