Didn't see anyone talk about this, but Asmondee's parent company is selling the company off to another private equity firm. The big news is that Christian Peterson, founder of FFG (part of Asmondee) has announced his decision to leave FFG.

I admit that I'm a little worried, as would be expected from any major change in leadership. I play several ongoing FFG games (Runewars, Arkham Horror LCG, just started L5R) but FFG has abandoned a great number of games that I've enjoyed before, so that fear would exist regardless. I'm sure this announcement is hitting right before Gen Con so that their in flight report's new announcements will put people at ease.

Founders can lead a company to greatness, but they all reach a point at which they stand in its way of survival. The trick is that true leaders know when to bow out, and when to stay.

FFG has been a company I've enjoyed up until lately. Some of their cost & edition change decisions with X-Wing have rubbed me the wrong way of late, so I'm not sure how I feel about this - whether it's the right time for the old guard to step down or not.

I do think FFG merging with Asmodee was a bad decision, though.

It never ends well

I am sure it was a good idea at first.. More money flow to produce better and more games.. Additional contacts wither it being on
the production side or licencing side... But all good things will come to an end.. Plus looking at the company that bought them made
me scratch my head and worry a little.. French conglomerate that makes gourmet food and other things that are no where near games.

Asmodee had some pretty good games, back in the day.

I still have a soft spot for Helldorado.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Well, from what I've been told, Petersen is a game designer first and foremost, and he's being frustrated for a long time being with his position on both FFG and Asmodee and wanting out for quite some time now, so...

A lot of it just had to do with getting international production and distribution to get around shipping fees and taxes/tariffs.
