To make the most of the Guard models I already have, I am spending $175 on the rulebook and some cardboard ($40 rulebook, $15 Stratagem cards, $60 Guard box, $60 Scion nox). I don't care about or want the terrain bits in the faction boxes, and I don't want any of the models in the boxes since I already have over 150 Tallarn Guardsmen.
Instead I spent $100 on Infinity models and feel far happier with my purchase already.
And you forgot to highlight that Infinity is a real skirmish game while Kill-Team is a poorly disguised 40K clone.

Why would you need the guard or scion box? Just use your existing guardsmen models.

Seems like you needlessly inflated that...
The game costs $40 for the rulebook. You already have models, you don't need the cards, you don't need additional models, and you don't need the terrain if you don't want it.
The only cost is the rulebook. Expand as you wish.
If you think it's necessary to get all of those things...then I guess it isn't for you. Stay away.

The faction specific Stratagem cards that come in those boxes, along with the obviously better Stratagem card that makes orders much more efficient for even non-Scions that come in the Scion expansion box. Playing without having the official cards is like playing 40k only using BattleScribe and using pictures off of the internet for your Stratagems, sure it would be okay when playing at home, but playing in a store with other players... It is likely going to be quite frowned upon by the other players and store owner.

Not saying pirate them but give it a few days and just find them online if you don't want the models.

What do you think pirating is?

Haha. Seriously, I don't think they understand what pirating rules is... Or have been playing GW games for so long that pirating has become the norm with overpriced rules.
I shouldn't have to pirate rules for a game to make that game seem worth playing. When buying Infinity or Warmachine stuff, I feel very little "buyer's remorse" after the purchase, that is good. It means that the game feels worth it to me... I buy my GW stuff second hand at the cheapest price possible, because everything GW is at a silly premium price for games with barely functional rules, whose only redeeming quality is the lore.

To quote them, they are a models company. I have bought plenty of their models, and will likely continue to do so. Now if they want to pair models I don't want or need with the rules, well the internet is a hell of a thing.

Your logic is flawed. They're allowed to bundle for profitability; that's their prerogative. It being bundled in a way that you don't like is justification for not buying, it's not a justification for breaking the law.

It is probably worth pointing out that the tournament rules pack that they just released tells you you can't use the stratagems from those boxes.

How important/powerful are the bundled cards?
If we've just got the rulebook + existing minis, are we gonna lose every game against those who have the cards, or can we just enjoy ourselves without minmaxing.

One intercessor box and a rulebook is all you need to play as a new player, and is even a good kill team. Sure, some factions could cost more than other, but that is always true.

The scion box is the AM box. They aren't different factions, why do you think you'd need two boxes? You will want some scions if you don't have them already though.

Because the Scion box has Stratagem cards that aren't in the Guard box. The ONLY way to get those Stratagem cards is to buy the Scion box, and it has a Stratagem card that makes your guys more efficient. Have you guys looked at the cards that come in that box? It is "worth it" to buy the box for a single Stratagem card if you want your Guard to be more competitive at the store when you play. They have shown they are willing to pull the same kind of shenanigans that FFG was pulling with thr fixes to ships in X-Wing in the first edition, like bundling the TIE Advanced Title and System card in a $100 epic play ship.

Lol. That is actually pretty hilarious.
"Here, buy this $60 Guard box and the $60 Guard expansion box... Buuuutttt, you can't use the cards you bought those boxes for! Jokes on you!"

Or indeed climb on terrain above 2"
Played a couple of games - it was ok and had some good/ interesting elements such as the "Ready" action - you can't move but shoot first.
Initiative is well odd, you want to win if you are clsoe enough to charge but often not if you are shooting as you canlt choose to go second.
There is a lot of missing equipment and options - which means that you have to try and convince soemone to let you use them, even if they are in the base kit!
Extremely annoying they choose not to do some factions and just said proxy or wait for months/years.
Its playable in a REALLY small area.

I'm a little confused about what you mean by guard box and guard expansion box. So far, there's just the one guard box for Kill Team (the scions one). What other box are you talking about?

I'm well aware of that but the scion box is the only AM box - what $60 guard box are you taking about?
