The Emperor wants to save humanity and have humanity evolve into a psychic species surpassing the Prefall Eldar (Prefall Eldar snuffed out stars, and their "mere dreams had once overturned worlds and quenched suns"). This is shown Master of Mankind and Guy Haley's Dark Imperium. Of course its nothing new. This has been so as far back as the lore from 1st Edition Rogue Trader.

Mostly saying the Emperor planning for humanity to psychically evolve is nothing new as it was the lore of 1st Edition Rogue Trader.

But are you going to be posting 100% fluff here? This is supposed to be discussion forum. Not blog of you finding out first time about common knowledge. If you want to start up discussion then do so rather than just state what's said in fluff. Give opinion. Ask about it. Something. Would make more interesting threads.

Late reply, but I just re-read Dark Imperium, and Gulliman saw the Emperor could hide nothing from him during their meeting (though the Emperor was suffering on the Golden Throne for ten thousand years at that point), and saw that he believes preserving the human race over individual humans and only cares for the many over the few.

The Emperor's plans for humanity to psychically evolve was re-introduced in Master of Mankind written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. It was first introduced in the lore from 1st Edition Rogue Trader (I know 1st Edition Rogue Trader is outdated, but yeah).

What ADB wrote in Master of Mankind about the Emperor planning for humanity to psychically evolve is pretty much written verbatim from the lore in 1st Edition Rogue Trader, minus the Webway.

Cool stuff.

I havent read the lore first hand, but from various threads here i. Fakka a picture of the emperor creating a refuge in the webway for himself and the gifted psykers he chose to go with him would stay in while the legions destepyed eachother after uaving elminated all alien threats in the galaxy, and re-emerge in the aftermath to evolve and recolonize tje galaxy in.

I think thats why he formed the imperium; as hoth an end to a means to destroy xeno threats, but also to cast a far enough net to find enough gifted, stable psykers to pool together to create a new sub population (a new species) of humans from.

The imperial webway is/was introduced during the run of the Horus Heresy card game by Sabretooth (the one whose artwork is in Collected Visions) as an attempt to answer "what exactly was he doing in the vaults that he didn't get involved?"

I don't know that it was intended for a refuge; the big intent was for it to allow travel independently of the warp - and particularly navigators (because mutants.....find out about this in Path of Heaven results in some serious issues with the Navis Nobilite).

The problem with using it as a refuge is that opening the door on Terra for more than a short period to get the refugees out again would require either the Emperor or Magnus to be sat in the throne, which means you've still got to hold Terra, which means it's not much of a refuge.

By comparison, it's a great tool for wiping out the legions if you decide you need to do this as you can 'spontaneously' deploy about several thousand custodes and the entire ordo sinister to a world on the other side of the galaxy, kill everything, and be back home in time for tea and scones.

I agree that he was definitely wanting to see humanity uplifted to be a psychic species. That's not just rogue trader fluff, it's never not been the case when the emperor is discussed (Inquisitor novel contemporary to 2nd edition, horus heresy card game contemporary to 5th edition, etc).

The human psychic potential is often implied to be greater than eldar in extreme cases (see alpha class psykers) - we're just not (by comparison) very good at anything but comparatively brute force techniques, we're certainly not as stable, and we don't have the same sort of psychic tech to protect ourselves outside very rare archeotech (even on a scale of the psychic population).

Therefore he doesn't have to do anything to cause humanity to become a psychic species - it's already happening and has been since the collapse of the dark age of technology (the iron men were one factor, early large-scale emergence of psykers another) - what he needs to do is manage the process to ensure humanity doesn't wipe itself out in a self-esclating cataclysm of daemonic possession and other psychic phenomena in the process, because power always develops before control.

Which is why there's a bit of a contradiction in the Emperor's approach - called out by Torq Serpillian in Inquisitor - that whilst it's a good plan in theory, it's self-sabotaging because almost every psyker strong enough to be detected is removed from the human gene-pool in some way; inducted into monastic orders like the Scholastica Psykana or Adeptus Astra Telepathica, the Astartes chapters, or simply fed to the Hollow Mountain.

Note that whilst the pre-fall eldar empire was very powerful, destroying worlds and stars are likely to have been part-psychic, part-technological feats rather than purely psychic ones; the eldar lost proportionatly a similar amount of technology in the fall as humanity did in the age of strife. Compare the pre-fall artefact "the fireheart" which appears in Apocalypse Warzone: Valedor, which is a broadly portable planet-killing device (as in "destroys the entire planet" not a " biosphere killer" like imperial exterminatus technology) from one of Asdrubael Vect's copius superweapon collection (hey, everyone needs a hobby, right?)

Its in Master of Mankind as well.

Halandri

It was in the 6th/7th BRBs as well.

In those particular publications, it was basically implied the entire point of the Imperium was to act as a psyker processing plant.

The inquisition, adeptus terra, the black ships. It's all about destroying the most dangerous psykers, consuming the manageable psykers and giving the best opportunities available to the most talented, trainable psykers.

And it was first introduced in the lore from 1st Edition Rogue Trader, as I said before. Cool things.

What is the point of just stating facts without any kind of leading question, any invitation for debate, or framework for discussion?

This is a discussion forum for fiction, yes, but to discuss, we need a point to discuss upon. Just planting facts and their sources is meaningless without a reason to talk about it specifically.

You could fix this by asking: "What are the Emperor's plans? I think they were XYZ."

By asking a question, that opens up discussion. Without that question, it is just a fact without any context or discussion attached.

Your style of posting is easily fixable, but right now, the OP isn't a discussion. It's a statement.

What's worse is now that people are replying to him less (or the fact that his threads are being locked), he's resorting to reviving 3 month old threads like this one in a vain attempt to gain attention back to the same . Given that you and I, among several other posters, have already tried to give him advice to be more engaging in his threads, I don't think he'll change anytime soon sadly.
