As always, 2 days to vote on the theme for next month. Your options are:

Heatwave: Harnessed by all manner of combatants, via weaponry or wizardry, by dragons or demons, fire is near-omnipresent throughout civilisations. Your entry should include or represent fire or heat, in any form you see fit.

Starting Out: Every story begins somewhere. Whether it's a conscript into the Imperial Guard, a Space Marine scout or a Level 1 adventurer off on their first quest, your entry should represent something at an early stage of its progression. Raw recruits, underlings, inexperienced adventurers, that sort of thing.

Not As Clumsy Or Random: While some fight with brute force, others make finesse their weapon of choice, whether that be a subtle knife in the ribs or a bullet from the horizon. Your entry should feature such a careful and precise fighter, one for whom skill and subtlety beats sheer hitting power.

Pick up the Pace: Jetbikes jump packs, ethereal wings, crude engines, powerful steeds; almost every faction employs troops for whom mobility and speed are paramount. Your entry should be something that exemplifies this, from light cavalry atop swift steeds to lightning-fast vehicles.

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.

Pick up the Pace is the only one which applies to my painting queue at the moment.

Woops, new poll up, time to get cracking on this month’s entry.

I probably have something for each of these, but voted for pick up the pace.

I went for heatwave but then noticed that GW have announced new Ork buggies so pick up the pace would suit although the likelihood is they get released in Orkober (I think I'll find some of those bits very useful )

Hmm, if Heatwave wins this month, would Pick up the Pace carry over to Orktober? Although I’ve not heard hard rumors as to when in the month they will be released.

I think if pick up the pace wins, we should all try to work faster then we normally do. Try to finish early.

Part of these competitions is to help us stretch our skills as painters. While the topics can push us outside what subjects we normally do, or techniques we attempt, nothing really speaks to speed. Which I know is one of my personal issues.

So besides the subject, I’m also going to view this month as a technical challenge, and try to get done ASAP. That’s if Pick Up the Pace wins. If it’s Heatwave, I still will view that as a tech challenge, as my workspace has poor ventilation, no AC, and I’m in a 3rd floor apartment.

Pick up the Pace has won, and will be the theme for next month. (Apologies to anyone hoping it would coincide with the new Ork stuff, I didn't realise that was set for release in October!)

Heatwave has already had 2 goes round, so Starting Out gets another go in November (October will be the SPOOOOOKY HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE, as is traditional)

I have an entry for pick up the pace, but my golden demon entries may have to take priority. I'll see.

Man I finally managed to find a high quality mad max/vault dweller model for my fallout diorama that can be paid with paypal and has reasonable shipping, and the theme isn't starting out... And I'm ceritanly not going to wait a month to complete it. Can't think of any way to fit him into the theme either...
