Which model do you think is more visually pleasing, Magnus or Mortarion?

Both of them are nice models. I think I prefer the cleaner look of Magnus. Motrarion is a little busy. It suits him, but not my cup of tea.

This is so tough. They're both beautiful. I've picked Morty because the nipple horns were too much for me.

Why is there not a “both” option? I’m currently finishing up my Magnus model (only the book at his hip and wings need to be detailed still), and work on Morty has been started. Both are great. I fully expect the Daemon Primarchs to be the best models they put out for Chaos.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I think Magnus is the better model - but at the same time I think he looks stupid on the tabletop due to being out of scale with everything you take with him (unless you are packing renegade knights)

I think Mortarion fits in a lot better with a DG army - but for me the model is a bit too much "Primarch" and not enough "Daemon".

I'm not sure how you'd make a half super-human, half Great Unclean One look threatening (and I know he has this whole angel of death thing/ancient model from Epic) or really fit in with the wider roster but... eh. Stripped of the wings and bling Mortarion is essentially still just a guy.

I'd expect Angron/Fulgrim are more... daemoned up if that makes sense.

Fluff and Lore, I vastly prefer Mortarion...model-wise he doesn't do it for me, and I think Magnus is far better as far as the lack of obnoxious clutter on the model.

PS: Full disclosure, I don't know that I've seen a genuinely great paintjob on a Mortarion...so that probably biases me.

i dont play any chaos forces, so based purely on aesthetics - i'd vote for Mortarion - no contest.

It's really just the nipple horns that turn me off of Magnus. I've seen some that people have made that got rid of the horns and those are much much better - but still not as cool looking as mortarion.

I agree that mortarion is a bit 'busy', but I also dislike the Magnus nipple horns and general over-daemonisation.

They're both a bit too big and bulky too to be honest. They should have been made more like slightly bigger daemon princes, instead of being... just huge.

Magnus reeks of arrogance and the clean look fits the Thousand Sons perfectly while Mortarion's look balances well with the Death Guard and fits his nature well.

That said I own neither because neither motivates me to drop the cash on them so I'm going to have to say that in the end, they're not what I'm looking for I guess.

Now if they release Dorn in Centurion armour....

Morty isn’t that much bigger than a Daemon Prince, if you look at his actual body. What makes him huge is that he is in flight (a couple of inches off his base) and his huge wings.

Personally I like him as he is. Visually imposing and enormous

Mortarion.

Magnus, the Queen of the Desert, is an atrocity.
