I find the concept of titans very boring, it's just good, better and best, only Tau has an interesting concept with walkers where they are specialized in roles, some are dedicated artillery support, others are front line fighters, some can jump and some are stationary.

I would like imperial titans to have more specialized roles instead of the usual "good, better and best".

except thats not true at all. Imperial Titans fall into 3 rough roles of light/scout, medium workhorse, and heavy, sure the bigger a titan gets the more guns it has etc, but the slower it becomes, A reaver, or even warhound that uses it's speed and manuverability wisely can potentially kill a warlord.

Yeah, Titans don’t fall into the OP’s categories at all.

What davion said.

In addition even the same basic template of titan can have vastly different roles such as Warlords being built for long range barrage support, siege breaking, CQB support, titan hunting etc.

Yep, here's a BOLS article showing the variants of warlord titan that were in the original adeptus titanicus game.
http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2018/07/40k-adeptus-titanicus-titan-variants.html

There's a bunch of them, to fill a variety of roles.

And in 40k terms it goes bad, worse, worst. None are worth fielding.

titans are a ill match for 40k, they're show pieces and little more. your best source for how titans should work is proably gonna be adeptus titan icus.

Before the huge points upgrade in CA, Titans could be an interesting unit to play. A single Reaver against 2k of enemies is pretty cool. Titans vs Titans however, simply falls down to whoever shoots first; played a Reaver vs Warhound a while ago, Warhound shot first and crippled the Reaver, took around 40 wounds off the thing. Shame really, that it's so one-sided like that.

I would like imperial titans to have more specialized roles instead of the usual "good, better and best".

You do realise the Tau don't have any Titans?

he said "tau with walkers" and in fairness of AT takes off eneugh that they expand the lines to include xenos titans I expect the Tau to in the gathering storm era, finally decide "100 foot tall walking robots are a good idea after all!"

Normally you might just get a single Warhound Titan in a game of normal 40k. Eg The Dying of the LIght in WintersSEO games.

As for a Warlord or god help us an Imperator..........it becomes silly.

an Imperiator basicly consists of just walking on your gaming table screaming "pew pew!"

The Taunar Supremacy Suit is a Titan class vehicle, designed to tackle Imperial Titans. The Stormsurge is a Knight class vehicle, design to punch out Knight class opponents.

Even Tau have Titans.
