I have compiled a 40k tactica activity graph for the major factions, counting posts in their tactica threads.

Each faction typically spikes with a relevant release or FAQ.

Orks look absolutely crazy (and of course they are), but they're still in prolonged inphancy with their index tactics thread whereas most other factions have swapped thread (and reset the counter) with the release of a codex.

Necrons spiked heavily with activity with their release and almost catch up on AMs half year advantage. Agreeably solving Necron's problem takes some discussion.

Chaos discussion have several tactics threads to drop into, one could perhaps combine some, bit for now I have kept them together.

(Also not sure which forum to post this in, but starting out here)

Edit: Added misggin factions; DA and SW

And ork tactic thread isn't all that tactical. When your tactics is "load up on boyz and swarm objectives" not much to discuss tactics wise

Yeah, I agree. And a lot of it's wishlisting.

I participate in many of those tactica threads and Chaos has the most tactical variety, by far. Orks are an outlier.

he's also missing armies, dark angels and space wolves lack a place on the graph

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Well, if this is based of posts, then this is wrong data.

When a codex comes out it is normal to stop using the old tactic thread and make a new one. Orks has gone a very long time without a Codex, DE just got one not to long ago, Chaos and IG got one a while ago as well.

I know you mention this, but if that is known why even make this data?

Why not make a post for each Codex tactics, starting with the post when the codex came out and 1 year of posts, this will give all armies the same about of time with a codex for posting.

I updated it with missing factions. Things just got lost in the initial data collection work.

Realigning them to the same starting point would certainly add an interesting perspective. I'll see what I can do.

For factions that have kept the same thread with the release of a codex I haven't taken the trouble to go in and set a specific starting point in the thread for something that would make a better comparison. I'd be happy to take input if anyone is interested in providing these. (Or just the release dates of said codices)
