Subject: vehicles and cover!!?

Hi all..i bet this has been answered before but search resulted in thousant of topics and replies...so i am going to ask here
lets say i have a tank that is over some terrain and a big model (knight) is firing at it from behind another building witch hides 50% or more of the tank but if you check line of sight from the left weapon of the knight is hides a little bit less of the tank then there is no cover?
what i mean is: can the firing player get to chose the tip of one weapon of his model so to cancel the cover of his target? does he need to declare from were on the hull he decides to draw line of sight? or do we count the majority of the model (for example middle of the model to draw line of sight?)
i know we measure distance of the weapons from any point of the hull and models can see from any point of the model but what about cover?

He can pick up TOE of model and if it can see tip of any part of the vehicle can shoot at will. And if the tank is behind cover but not IN it doesn't matter if it's 1% covered or 99% covered. No bonus. But if any part of the model sees the tank so that less than 50% is covered no cover bonus.

Firing player gets to choose where on the model to draw line of sight from.
Is the tank partially in the terrain at all, or just behind it?

That's not how it works. LOS is determined if you can draw an uninterrupted line at all. No player gets to "decide" which line it is, all lines are true. To the OP: The way cover rules work this edition if you're not in area terrain, you don't benefit from cover. If he you can see even 0.00000000001% of the enemy model, you get to shoot at it.

it was a hovering tank...hovering over some ruins (buildings)

Then as per the rules for Ruins ( BRB Errata) it gets the benefit of cover "if at least 50% of every model is obscured from the point of view of the shooting model."

When checking LOS the firing player picks any point of their model (like the tip of an antenna for example) and draw line of sight from that point. They decide if you are 50% obscured from that.
As a sidenote: when checking range they must pick the closest point of bas or from model if there is no base, so that is resolved differently.

The firing player gets to pick any place on the model and can use that to determine whether the target is 50% obscured. All lines may be true, but the firing player gets to choose which true line to determine if it's obscured.

Yeah, fair enough. I was talking about just in general.
