Personally my store had an Orktober event expecting the Ork codex to just be around the corner (now the look like fools). And I know some similar stories.... It's just weird to have the marketing hype that led to nothing new.... we now know the codex is most likely not in October now.
GW should have said "here is the boxed game this month and the codex is next month" then continued with their daily articles like they did. I'm not saying any of this made me angry (I can wait a long time for this codex) I'm just saying this is bad marketing from GW.
HAHA, my store did the same thing, actually the 3 stores in my area all did that. Orktober tournaments and events. One store in particular, the owner plays Orkz exclusively, his comment was pure gold. "Well that is about par for the course with GW"
I was the only ork army who turned of for my stores events. I got absolutely stomped. One game I lost everything turn 2 and the other the opponent (who had never played orks before) almost demanded to see my index because he couldn't believe the dakka jet only fired 18 shots. XD Was still fun representing Orks though and I'm glad I did it. It's good to show variety in these events especially if the event is Orktober themed. XD

Not as hilarious as some of the things I've heard Ork players complain about this year. One guy at my FLGS, who is a diehard Ork player, is claiming to be not interested in Orks anymore because what was presented as a month long hype train with a memeable name turned out to be a month long hypetrain with a memeable name and not like four weeks of detailed rules and model releases.
Seriously, marketing exists to get people excited and sell stuff. Seeing as they're trying to sell an Ork only boxed game to go with the codex I'm not really shocked that they're basically giving us an Orks for Dummies treament with stuff involving lore and the like to get people interested in the army and the more obscure lore involving them over just going "here's your stuff, now go buy Space Marines".

I haven’t seen anyone else ask this so apologies if it’s a repeat, but what did most of you expect, I’m not asking in a flipent way but wondering what precisely would have made this “orktober” for you in particular?

They've all expected every wow-community article to be only orks, it's an outrage otherwise, and all/most models and rules to be announced and pre-order-able by now, in order to receive their orks wholly within October... like units inside a KFF.
Personally I'm bummed about no codex for 18 months since 8th, but the extra few weeks means nothing to me.

I'm embarrased on behalf of Ork players for the behaviour of some of you.
You're like my 5 year old when you accidentally tell him we're going to buy him something nice, and then won't shut the hell up about it. I didn't mean we were going to the shops right this very second!
The models already revealed are amazing, and considering the more vocal Ork players here were absolutely convinced they would get nothing at all because GW hates orkzzzz
I'm embarrased on your behalf.

This too is my question.
Considering its mid point in the month I think the releases/previews have been decent so far.

I think the frustration lies from the fact that despite this being the new GW and all, there is still an annoying lack of transparency between them and the customers (fans). This really comes from the fact that they will only ever openly talk about stuff on the social media and WHC about stuff that has been officially announced but even then the details are frustratingly sketchy. For instance, even when people are asking about the speed freeks box like price, contents all that, GW still give out vague and nonsensical answers like 'All will be revealed soon' and that rubbish.
I get that there's probably some management or legal reason possibly why they can't share more details earlier but it's frustrating to see them still be a bit closed off. They could do with just being a bit more open in the general community like a road map or something just to quell the rage.

The new GW is old GW plus some smoke&mirror so no biggie.
Biggest change in GW is Duncan's videos.

What the hell are you even on about? I conclude my post with this:
"But my conclusion is that there doesn't need to be too much to be upset about... just gw is off with their timing that's all. A mistake that rightly deserves criticism but shouldn't diminish the hype and work GW put into orks this month. "
Seriously, did any of you read what i wrote and the purpose of this thread. I was trying to bridge the gap between the two sides of the argument. I was trying to tell you that there is nothing to be upset about but you should respect the criticisms of some ork players... and you've all gone and derailed this thread to push your own personal agendas becoming just as bad as the people you're complaining about. One person tries to bring two sides together and you all spend your time trying to push the sides apart again. Just be nice to each other for a change!
It seems in my attempt to hihlight an argument to bring people together I have just made things worse. When one side started arguing against the other side I tried to step up to balance the argument. I'm more highlighting your post as an example more than specifically saying it's all you.
I kind of want a mod to close this thread now because I'd hate to see more anger because of me.
