The codex says:

"Any model may replace its slugga and choppa with items from the Nob Weapons list."

"NOB Weapons:
Up to two weapons can be chosen from the following list:
• Big choppa • Choppa • Killsaw • Power klaw • Power stabba • Slugga"

Can a Nob take 2 choppas?

I am confussed because of this "stepping into a new edition" faq:

"Q: Can a model take the same wargear option more than once? For example, can a Space Marine Terminator replace his storm bolter with a cyclone missile launcher and another storm bolter, and then replace its "new" storm bolter with a heavy flamer?
A: No"

The example is what confuses me because in it the Terminator is using the wargear option of changing his storm bolter twice... and the Nob would only be using the "replace choppa and slugga for two weapons of this list" option once...
So what is exactly a "wargear option"? Is the weapon "choppa" a "wargear option" or is "replacing the choppa+slugga for whatever combination of weapons from the list" the "wargear option"?

In Short, yes. The FAQ doesn't apply here because you're not replacing 1 choppa for 2 choppas, you're replacing a choppa AND slugga for two items from the list. What the FAQ stops you doing is, for example, replacing a Storm Bolter for Meltagun+Storm Bolter, then replacing that new Storm Bolter with a Meltagun+Storm Bolter, etc.

Because it says "slugga and choppa" you can't do what pre-errata Tau did and replace 1 weapon for 2. You're replacing both weapons for "Up to two weapons" "from the following list". So you lose your original choppa and slugga and can take a single choppa (if you want) or take two choppas.

Fairly sure this will be addressed in FAQ anyway as it's fairly common question so wait for bit more than week if you want to play safe.

I'd also like to point out that AOBR nobz and the nobz box come with both right- and and left-handed choppas, so it's very likely that this change was intentional to reflect the possibilities of the box.

Ya I mean, space marine veterans can take 2 chainswords, choppas are essentially chainswords. Go nuts with your super-choppy nobs!

The only reason I see this sticking around is that there exist in the nob kit a couple of choppas and sluggas that are the opposite hand, meaning you can make double-choppa or double-slugga nobz out of the kit if youw ant.
