I know the Tau have dealt with warhounds before during the Damocles Gulf Crusade and on Taros, but when have they come across Warlords? Ive been looking but all I can find are people talking about it. Can somebody link me to a quote or something? Because I am pretty sure it was Warhounds the Tau first used their Mantas/ Tigersharks against, not Warlords.

In the novel "fire warrior" a newly created warlord was involved but was corrupted by nurgle and destroyed by a fire warrior before it could go into action.

You're thinking of Imperial Armour volume 3 - The taros Campaign. That's the first appearance of the Tiger Shark AX-10 variant (fitted with twin heavy railguns, designed as an anti-titan ground attack plane). This presumably means that they'd encountered Imperial titans before during the Damocles Crusade. I don't think there's any particular source which specifies exactly when Tau forces encountered a Warlord titan, but some time during the Damocles Crusade would seem reasonable.

Mantas were also in use before the Taros campaign; Lexicanum suggests the relevant sources are Andy Hoare's Rogue trader novels and the 3rd edition Codex Tau. Probably no titan actions described in the novels, though.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this. The Imperium did use Warlord Titans during the first Damocles Gulf Crusade. There are Warlord Titans fighting on Da'lyth in Savage Scars.

I really wish they had not changed the Tau's attitude that gigantic bipedal walkers are super inefficient and lets focus on flyers. The fact that tau have titans now is just so bleh.

Since when do the Tau have titans? Their biggest battlesuits are basically equivalent to large knights, aren't they?

So they reallywere Warlords and not Warhounds? I remember reading a while ago on lexicanum that there were three or four warhounds involved, and when one got shot down by tiger sharks the rest dipped out of there. That may have been Taros though, apprrantly.

Anyway, what happened when they went up against warlords? I expect the Tau got their asses kicked

Sure, but the larger knight variants aren't all that much smaller than a warhound to be honest.
Here's the ta'unar next to a warhound titan, a regular knight, and a cerastus knight. It's a wee bit smaller than the warhound, but the line between knight and titan gets a bit blurry with some of these models.

Pretty sure the scale is off between Knights and Titans to begin with, same as how the scale is off between infantry and tanks.

Yeah, it was cool when the Tau were clever, instead of doing like everyone else in the galaxy..
And yeah, these stupid big knight models are wasting everything !

I hate to admit it, but the Ta'unar makes me want to start up a Tau army again.

Love the Tuna, it’s easily one of my favourite models forge world makes, fluff wise it’s stupid as all hell for the tau, but I get why it was made, there is a lot more you can do with mechs that you can’t do with aircraft, my solution !!!

Aircraft that turn into mechs... shut up... I know it’s stupid but I wants it.

Wow. I thought the Taunar was bigger.

Anyway, what happens in Savage Scars?

Warhounds and Imperial Knights are more or less on point, but the Warlords especially should be much bigger than the model scale.
