I've heard there's an EP of black mirror that has a bit where if peolle refuse to watch an ad they are assaulted with a painful sound and ordered to "resume watching" louder and louder. Which EP is that?

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

There is a real patent held by a company where you tv has a mic and camera. When a comercial plays (say mcdonalds), you can skip it by standing up, putting your arms in the air, and declaring "McDonalds!".

I dont remember who holds the patent. But i know it exists.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I'd be more impressed if you had to ward the commerical of by declaring another fast food chain:

"By the name of Chik-Fil-A I cast ye out, McDonalds Scum!"

It won't work until you throw a chicken sandwich at the screen and sing three "hail chickens bird of deliciousness."

That was a fun episode.

IIRC, the folks all had to ride stationary bicycles for miles that they traded in for credits. However, it appeared that the riding had no purpose other than to create an artificial class system between the sanitation workers, the riders, Media folks, and the Judges.

Then almost all the media directed at the Riders served to show how much better they were than the Sanitation workers and aspirational dreams to become a media folk.

Plus, it had the nice Boy-meets-girl plot elements that are twisted by the episode.

So much great subtext and messaging in that episode.

White Christmas is still my favorite episode. When i want to introduce someone to black mirror and really show them that both a) its a great show and b) they will have no fun what-so-ever watching it White Christmas as their xmas special episode just never lets me down.

Whilst I liked White Christmas the reveal threw me off I wasn't sure what punishing a copy of a person was meant to achieve, Be Right Back is probably my fav

Well first you question the conciousness. If the copy is concious then hows it different from torturing a real person.

But its also mainly a set up for the guy at the end. Hes released from prison but isolated from everyone. The torture he did for a living against copies is what he just lives in now for real.

Never explained.....

However, the end where the guy who is elevated to a media elite looks out the window over a lush and green world seems to indicate that the "Lessers" are kept in their cycling state for no reason other than the sake of control. There was no apocalypse or any other reason. Eveything in the outside world was fine and man intentionally created the internal dystopia to control his fellow man.

That whole episode was layers upon layers of what terrible things people can do to each other.

black mirror is a great series, mainly because most of the episodes could be plausible scenarios. that and it agrees with my distrust of technology. I liked the episode with the kid being sextorted, forced to do a series of things (wont spoiler)
