Exactly why I only want to be a middle class noble. I still have some pull, but I am not a high roller or especially important guy. I can blend in with the other rich folk.

I can't believe no one has said rogue trader yet, but that's what I would want to be. You'd have relative freedom to go where you wish, including outside the Imperium to negotiate and trade with xenos. You could set your own priorities and follow opportunity as long as you paid your dues in some way. Out of sight, out of mind, with your own spaceship to boot. It would be fairly dangerous but worth the risk.

Whats the name of the Commissar who is the head writer of the new Regimental Standard?

The one that spent 48 hours of active duty before stubbing his toe on a Baneblade and retiring with honours to become part of the propaganda machine?

this got me excited, thinking of 40k rednecks, ministerium conspiracies where the administration poisons crops and mass preaches fake news blaming Xenos for crop failure, encouraging young men to enlist and take the fight to the Xenos 'they took our crops!'

Also, "we're going to build an astronomicon and make the heretics pay for it!"

Small note for the people saying they'd want to be simple citizens of the Imperium on a safe world: the topic indicates that whoever you are, you would be a character. As in, in the story. A simple agri-world farmer isn't a "character" unless that agri-world is about to have a very bad time.

Yeah. If Kharn shows up he can always have his own side of the battlefield. Right, left or center, mr. Kharn? All yours. We'll stay out of your way, over there...

Sevatar, easily. He's the fething man. Possibly the finest fighter the Adeptus Astartes ever produced and a psyker to boot.

He easily has the best sense of humor of any superhuman in the galaxy.

He's smart and treacherous... and has pretty much nothing he owes to anyone by the time 40k rolls around and he comes back from his mysterious, unconfirmed death.

Trying to unfeth the Night Lords would be one hell of a task, but you'd never get bored and you could literally choose to do anything you wanted, succeed or fail. Also, you've not been mind-fethed by Chaos, like Kharn or Lucius.

With Lucius, it's the whole 'Gift of Submission' thing, innit?

Being tied up and whipped sounds awful to me, but if you're into it then obviously being tied up and whipped is a pretty good night, so if you're into the whole 'crazed S&M murderer' vibe then you wouldn't consider yourself "mind-fethed". Submission is empowering to a submissive, after all.

Consensual non-consent, I guess. Though I doubt Lucius and Slaanesh sat down and talked about limits and who knows what counts as grimdark aftercare, so... maybe I'm full of [Expletive Deleted].

If human, a Rogue Trader, to satisfy my love of romantic adventure (at a terrible human cost, but we can gloss over that bit).

If non-human, definitely some kind of Ork. They have the most fun.
