Subject: Help with Necrons for Christmas

Hey guys, looking for some advice on necrons. I’m looking to buy my friend a starter pack for Christmas. I was looking at getting one of the start collecting boxes. My question is would you guys prefer the older box with the Triach Stalker or the newer set with the annihilation barge? And why? Ps I don’t play necrons so I know little about them.

I'd advise to get the newer set as you can turn the AB into a Command Barge for an Overlord which is actually pretty decent.
You also get a small unit of Immortals and if you end up building the AB you can use the leftover lord as a regular lord unit to buff the other troops rerolling 1's to wound.
Stalker is pretty bad currently and also doesn't benefit from codes

Between the two, the new one is definitely the better deal. As a wild card you might want to see if you can pick up the Necron side of Forgebane on ebay, it's a better starting point than either SC IMO. I assume the battleforce is out of the price range for this gift.

Oh yeah forgot about Forgebane, just did a quick search on eBay and it looks like stocks have dried up for it sadly. You might get lucky.

Yeah Battleforce is pushing it money wise for this gift.
