So, to you people who saw the predator, did they even try to give a reason for why the predators wanted to get human DNA hygidized into them? I heard they they wanted human predator hybrids.

Spoiler:
It's not ONLY humans. Apparently Predators are just a genetic soup race that mashes DNA into themselves to constantly try to perfect the perfect warriors. They collect skulls of the best kills as a way to bring the DNA back. There are new Pred dogs in this one. These pred dogs look way worse then the ones from Pred 3, mostly because they look like if you took a predator and made it into a dog complete with a predators face. At least the pred dogs from 3 looked like an animal that might have existed on their planet or some other planet that they adapted as pack hounds. However the message here is clear. They genetically modified their own people into weird dog monsters.

In this movie the human they really want to collect is a 10 year old autistic kid.

Basically none of this movie will be cannon moving forward if anyone has any sense about them.

Kee-rist, they're basically turning predators into a psuedo borg, huh?

I would say the most insulted I felt during the Predator was during the forest fight when the volume of the movie increases suddenly and for no reason by approx 15-20%. I say “no reason” but what I mean is for no narrative or stylistic reason. There is a reason, of course, and that is because the film by that point is such a complete pile of nonsensical garbage that the desperate editor must have figured his only option was to try and physically hurt the audience in order to distract them from the catastrophe on screen.

Remember, originally the movie was worse, and what we saw is after many re-shoots after test screenings were overwhelmingly negative.

I saw a lot of movies this year that weren't too good, but this is the only one I left angry at. There were some good parts here and there but man, they really did feth it to death. The more I reflect on it, the more negative I get (I also re-watched it a second time since the theatrical screening).

The one really stand out scene for me was the Pred escaping the lab. That whole bit was a really good scene from what could have been a much better movie.

good ghawd...

I suppose of rips had to be in it maybe she was there to ensure humanity got the huge sudden tech boost it needed to make "Prometheus" possibky in the ncrediboy short timeline it had, because humanity meds the tech boost to survive something like the aliens, the predators or the engineers.

Still glad it didn't happen.

Still leaves it open how humanity makes the incredible tech boosts wecd need to match the Prometheus timeline. Maybe the press covertly give it to humanity to keep their favorite prey from killing itself off with climate change?

Or could the preds be at war with the engineers and see humanity as a potential ally?

I mean... thats bad yes. But at this point the alien franchise requires time travel to work also.

Alien Covenant takes place only about 100 years from Alien. In that 100 years, 30 of which need to be traveling to a new planet. David needs to perfect the Aliens into the Aliens we all know. Find ANOTHER promethian ship. Get the promethians infected by the xenomorphs, crash the ship on LV-426, and have the pilot completely decompose and fossilize in the chair of a contained shape ship.

Yeah... not going to happen.

Everyone trying to build their own Cinematic Universe...I think lightning only strikes once in that regard.

We’ve got these Alien/Predator movies absolutely pulverising a dead horse, DC has tried and may well have turned the corner with Aquaman but I’ve lost faith , Universal tried with their Dark Universe and bombed, M. Knight has his Eastrail #177 thats been hit or miss(and is at least limited to a trilogy at the moment), and The Monsterverse has Godzilla and Kong to mixed results.

Alot of these studios will bomb themselves into bankruptcy if they don’t get back to the meat and potatoes of filmmaking. Or give the fans what they want from these franchises.

Fortunately I intentionally missed most of these.

I would say Sicario: Soldado. Good actors, rehashed plot.
Also Valerian. A lot of flash but no spark.

Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

Yes, Cloverfield Paradox sucked. So dumb.

I'm incredibly glad that Predators didn't ruin Ripley for me.

The biggest film flop for me was that Glass was supposed to be in 2018, I think, and I now have to wait till Jan 18. So geeked about that after Split and it's ending.

At the risk of molotov cocktails being thrown at me, I'm kinda surprised no one mentioned "the happytime murders" as worst film on 2018.

I'm guessing 3 things here:

1. No one here saw it, which is possible.
2. People are saving that for worst movie of the decade.
3. People here who saw it were so traumatized they've successfully repressed the memory.

Definitely put me in the didn't see it camp. I watched the first trailer and instantly dismissed the film. Being raunchy without class is just mindless button mashing, and it was pretty clear from the end of the first trailer that's a the movie would ever amount to.

I REALLY enjoyed happy time murders. Its exactly a cop movie like the departed except muppets are in it. If you like a cop movie and the juxtaposition of muppets with the visial gags that come from that its great.

I had forgotten Valerian came out this year. That was another big disappointment. I thought the aesthetics were amazing, like the costume design? But that was pretty much where the good stuff ended. The lead guy had absolutely no screen presence, the story was dumb, and the whole things was just... eminently forgettable.
