I've seen it played both ways. I always just assumed it was a +1 for the first unit destroyed and no bonuses after that.

It does not stack. It's the same wording as, for example, Doc's Tools. You get the bonus if "any other friendly unit" destroyed an enemy unit. It doesn't matter if there is one unit or one trillion units, you only get the bonus once. If the bonus said "for each", then it would be cumulative, but it doesn't, so it isn't.
