If you could pick the next Space Marine Chapter to receive an Index Astartes article, which Chapter would you choose?

For me, I wouldn't mind seeing Flesh Tearers being the next ones up. They are a Second Founding Chapter just like Crimson Fists, and have their own special character. They had their own detachment in 7e and are typically shown to be more brutal than the other Blood Angels Successors. Plus, their Chapter Master isn't fond of the Primaris Marines. Maybe that could be reflected in game somehow.

The other choice for me, which is more obvious, is the Black Templars. I think they could use a little bit more to reflect their unique structure. That they have their own Chapter Tactics already (albeit kind of sketchy ones), so they aren't exactly in the same space as other Chapters. But they could definitely use some more Warlord Traits, Stratagems, and Relics.

Minotaurs and Exorcists.

I know they aren't a space marine chapter but i would love to see an article on The Solar Auxila for Guard and the Lucifier Blacks for storm troopers. The guards of terra need their time to shine.

I'd normally say Iron Hands or Imperial Fists, but due to Crimson Fists just now getting one I think a step away from Dorn would be good so put me down for Iron Hands. They have a surprisingly large presence on Vigilus and could do for some love.

This i can agree with, especially with how criminally low their involvement has been since the shattered legions.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing in one of these articles is a special character for armies without one.

Iron Hands are definitely one of the Chapters that should be in the first five articles. I would like to think they would address Chapters actually in Codexes first, but who knows.

They haven’t made Index Astartes SM exclusives, right?

Well with Astartes in the name I doubt it'll be anything but SM's

It is Index Astartes... Yeah. They are Space Marines exclusive. They always have been.

Iron Hands deserve it.

I hope that IA adds more depth to ones that got shafted in their codexes. Flesh Tearers or Black Templars, for example. Or Word Bearers who literally got a base rule for loyalists as their special rule. Doing Crimson Fists first is promising since they had rules in the codex but they were lackluster.

I suspect it will just focus on chapters in the fluff without special rules though. So like the chapters involved in Badab or some of the new Primaris chapters.

I'm currently painting Minotaurs, so them next would be ace, but in all honesty the Iron Hands deserve more love.

Index Astartes? I’m all for it. Put all the Marines in the same book, add stratagems for different Chapters.

I'd say either Black Templars or Iron Hands. Templars because they got un-codex'd and got a very short stick as far as chapter tactics, relics, and WLT go.

Iron Hands because they got similar treatment as BT, but had an outright advertised effect of their chapter tactic removed by an FAQ. Both need something.

Does GW make those for armies with a codex, or is limited to stuff like crimson fists or Ironhands?

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Carcharodons Astra. Would love for some of those Badab War chapters to get some attention.

I *expect* however that it'll be a bunch of 'popular' successor chapters that are already in various books. I wouldn't even be surprised if some of the Primaris chapters in Vigilus got Index Astartes entries. :/

My main hope is that they stick with this for a solid year. I subscribed hoping that there'd be new rules for kill team and index astartes for the whole year.

The FW Chapters would be the best bet if GW wanted those White Dwarves to print money.

Scythes of the Emperor. Though honestly the CF Tactics of being good vs hordes works well for them too

I can't disagree with that. Especially if they have transfer sheets or shoulder pauldrons available for them (even if they aren't currently in print, that is easily solved). Gimme some Carcharodons, Red Scorpions, or Minotaurs.

Also remember that Index Astartes also covered Chaos Space Marines, so stuff like the Red Corsairs is a possibility as well. Something I wouldn't mind seeing either.

Honestly, my Chapter got covered in the first one, so I am going to be happy to see just about anything else (short of Ultramarines) in future articles. As long my Crimson Fists don't suffer from Early Installment Weirdness where they are either much stronger or much weaker than the future articles, I am good.

Considering that the Scythes are actually Iron Warriors Successors that descend from Alexis Polux's brother-in-arms Warmaster Dantioch, I could totally see this.

Were they? Im pretty sure the first Chapter Master was an Ultramarine named Oberdeii.

Though if some of the IW were crammed in there that would make some sense. Probably had more than just the ones needed for the Silver Skulls.

I believe that was a smokescreen orchestrated by the UM to keep the Loyalist Iron Warriors alive. So on paper they are Ultramarines Successors, but the Scythes are implied to be descended, at least in part, from Dantioch. They even wear his helmet as a badge of honour.
