I am curious, how does Refuse to Die interact with an Ancient's banner ability or the Only In Death Does Duty End Stratagem? If I have a Captain with Refuse to Die and they get slain, and I trigger Only In Death Does Duty End to fight as if it is the Fight Phase, then I use the Refuse to Die ability at the end of the phase, and the Captain gets back up. Am I getting the sequencing right? It sounds like the Captain could use Only In Death Does Duty End a second time when he dies, right?

This seems like it would be great with the Fist of Vengeance on a Captain. A damn near neverending stream of freeish attacks!

As a heads up you should mention what sourcebooks you're using, especially if they are non-codex (not a demand because I know some people will try and twist my words to suit their agenda, just my opinion and some friendly advice, even I had a bit of a headscratch moment). Not everyone is going to know about/have access too the Crimson Fist Index Astartes.

Because the Captain is still actually slain, all effects that happen when the Captain is slain still happen, he just gets better and is set up again at the end of the phase. The trait is used "the first time this warlord is reduced to 0 wounds", not at the end of the phase. Since the Warlord now has 0 wounds, they are still slain as per the BRB rules for going to 0 wounds.

I fixed the title. Thanks! That is what I figured. A nice way to generate a bunch of extra attacks. Being able to benefit from the Banner twice or use the Stratagem twice is pretty neat. Might make me want to run a Refuse to Die Captain instead of a Storm of Fire Captain.

Do remember with the banner you only get 1 extra melee attack and/or shoot with one weapon.

Yes. I am aware. It would still be a nice Eff You to the model that killed him if I don't have the CP to trigger OIDDDE.
