Anyone here like it? Want to talk about it? I really liked it, it was a paradigm shift in kaiju movies. I could feel for the characters in it and respect some of them.

One thing I really respected was how the military dealt with godzilla. In a lot of old movies people in the military go full metal moron and scream threats and vows of destruction at godzilla, acting like idiots and making pointloess attacks.

In shin Godzilla after the military gets it's collective ass stomped, someone asks the commander if he wants to continue the attack with remaining ammunition, the commander shows true maturity, responsibility and wisdom by saying they can't stop godfzilla and should put all resurss into speeding up the evacuation as that's the best way to save lives. That was what a real, competent, professional soldier should do in a case like that.

Besides the last American Godzilla the only other Godzilla movie I ever enjoyed was the original. Which is great for it's time and has a lot of subtext and meaning.

Every other Godzilla movie is a bizarre mess of either the crapest costumes in existence or the goofiest plots. Boarderline unwatchable all of them.

Despite this Shin Godzilla being mo cap it's arms are stunted and unmoving as though it's a rubber suit and it's face moves/looks like a sock puppet.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Well, shin godzilla is a genetic abomination that should not exist. It's arms are terribly small and itcs tail is huge because it's a genetic mess and nit a perfectly evolved creature, that was part of the theme. It's teeth we're also deformed and generally useless.

Which is fine. The original Godzilla is also a genetic abomination born of nuclear testing. Original Godzilla was made in the 60's with the limitations of a guy in a rubber fat suit. The head/neck and arms being stiff is a product of it's times. But Shin is mo-cap. Those limbs could move in more natural ways. Even for their unnatural existence. The stiff unmoving nature of the limbs makes it look like a rubber suit despite it not being one. In fact, it probably would have been cheaper to make a rubber suit with some simple animatronics in the face for the simple jaw motion it has. They have done way more complex stuff with the ninja turtle masks in TMNT 1 back in the early 90s. ANY motion would have looked better. In fact some really disturbing motion that made the creature look like those limbs were painful and horrid to move but moving anyway would have been great, As it stands it looks cheap. The eyes don't even move. They look like cold dead glass bead doll eyes.

Speaking ifsnin godzilla's eyes personally I liked the way some sort if shield slid over them at times like when the bombs dropped on his head and when he fired his breath weapon, like they needed protection in some cases.
