Greetings and salutations dear readers.

I been informed that this would be the best place to post the following, if not. I am sorry.

In recent few months I am attempting to develop my own 3D print, and modelling services. . Including: printing, 3d modelling - commission and selling my own models. I had some success and finally I have decided to leave my shell and post some images and examples of my work to the war-gaming audience.

These are early days, moreover I am bad, very bad at all this social media businesses.
I am planing to specialize in large and medium vehicles and various monster, with additional aspiration of world building and table top game design

So for start I have this tank kit with a little bit of story.

A mash of few WW1 tanks and some sci fi bits. Together they create this monsters. Lancer MK2 a nuclear-powered self propelled laser cannon.

Lore:
Spoiler:

MK2 Lancer.
Direct fire Artillery.
Designed to eliminate enemy installations and heavy units from long range.
Crew 7.

Created for Solaris Triplex Union. Design won a competition held by STU to further augment their land forces. As their key philosophy in arms and weapons design, it had to be cost efficient and as easy to maintain as possbile. The competition was won by Rodnaya Star Designs and Pobieda Tank Manufacture Group. Which basically took a heavy laser canon from one of their star frigates and developed for it sufficient nuclear power supply. Pobieda TM group, has applied it's tank manufacture skills and created a mobile platform for the modified canon. Results were deemed satisfactory by the STU and soon mass production of lancer began.

So this is it for now, I'll tr to upload soem more images soon. I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

Oh
Yeah that would be good to post.

So for printing I usually take about 8.50 £ for print hour.
Some minor print-ability adjustments are free.
Major ones depends.
Currently Available highest quality is 0.06mm It's more than sufficient for high quality monsters and vehicles.

this tank was made with variety of different Qualities for different parts.
For that tank I look for something about 55£ I will include more photos of this tank soon.

and custom commissions depends, on model.

Well the model is nice, the striations make it hard to like. It is hard to know how zoomed in the photo is or if a layer of primer will cover them up. If it doesnt, it is going to look very poor painted up and defeats the point of being a display piece.

Hello.

I am just not sure if it is right to demonstrate my products next to the popular brands.
The layering is hard to avoid, however I am still able to crank up quality at this bust, or the tank. However I'd advise to smooth out models with some sanding paper or files.
Tomorrow I'll have some painted photos.

Taking the bust as an example, I would add an indication of its dimensions in the picture.
I would also put it side by side not next to other models from the popular brands but at different stages. As you mention it is "partially cleaned". I would show "fresh from the print", "cleaned", "primed", "painted" next to each other. Probably a good way to see how good the model actually is.
Best of luck with your endeavour.

Sorry to say but I don't think you have a viable product there, you can't sell striated/layered prints dude, it's just not good enough. No paint in the world will make it look good. I won't even get into sculpt or art direction critique, just the quality of the piece in the most basic technical terms is a no-go for me. You need to get a higher res printer type...

I'd say that fiddling about with the printing settings can do a lot, too.

To be honest, I'm not sure that there's much of a market anymore for FDM printing services, in this day and age, as you can get a printer at home for about $150 in 24 hours that, with a bit of fiddling with the settings will print stuff better than that. Cases in point:

That mini is about 30mm high, with not much more done to it than priming aond painting. The face's not all that, but the layering got really smooth.

That is an Epic scale Predator, and you can see huge layers there, at that distance. Of course, that's because that is a 1cm mini:

Or this 18mm dwarf:

Those are printed with an Anycubic i3 Mega FDM printer with a 0.4 mm nozzle and with 0.08mm layers. You can get the same or better results with literally any FDM printer and a bit of time.

And of course, FDM printers are not even close to being the thing you should use for high detail prints like 28mm minis or cool busts. For those, you need to go SLA. These are printed with a $500 Anycubic Photon:

Albertorious is spot on. Was about to say the same. Fdm printing is no rocket science or even complicated.

There's quite a bit of interest in custom terrain (such as hex based terrain for Warhammer Underworlds) and accessories, but as noted for figures the bar has gotten pretty high on print quality. I am interested to see what you come up with

Here in the spoiler is painted and size referenced image of that bust, as I promised.

This lizard have been printed at 0.1mm with 0.6 Nozzle. I can print at higher quality and resolution. As I'll demonstrate something tomorrow. Printed at better quality and settings. However I am trying to keep a bit closer to lower price spectrum of things, as for now. MOst of my commissioners were content with quality so far

Spoiler:

It was painted and cleaned by me. I am aware that paint job it self is not stellar, but currently I don't have resources to missions someone, to paint it for me.

Now big thanks to Albertorius.
I do know about this SLA printer and it is interesting one, however it's tiny build volume is very off putting.
I'll be tweaking some more settings.

Honestly with the layer lines I don't think wargamers are your market. The standards of quality wargamers tend to demand are pretty high so whilst you might make a few sales here and there, its not going to net you a lot of positive reviews.

You might have more luck aiming at DnD models and that crowd. Where the standards are a little lower on the whole, though often this also comes with a lower price point as well. It's basically a market where there is demand for creative and unique models, but not the same quality demands (always).
It's why Reaper made their Bones line - offering low price on models (though I should say that they are improving the Bones material and mixture all the time and it seems their newest grey/black Bones is getting pretty darn good with detail retention even in smaller models)

Here is a little wip. Jsut a medium quality test print.
Un posed and unsliced properly... I actually have problem with slicing this one. It needs to be printed side ways, but then it creates big ugly seam

Any feedback or idea how to improve it?
