This is just a simple question, it seems a little unfair to the fact that most players around here are chaos marines of some sort.
But since I'm playing Emperor's Spears, if I use the Stratagem Death to Traitors, does that mean that when I hit with a 6, it not only generate's two hits, it generates and additional attack, and further more, does that additional attack have a chance to generate double hits because of the tactic?

I'm asking because logically it seems like there should be no problem, but that just seems a little unfair to Chaos players (Not that I'm complaining) like, a single sergeant reiver in perfect conditions with the knife, and I mean rolling all 6s would get a total of 16 hits?

Friendly advice: When mentioning obscure rules that aren't found in the Rulebook or GW codexes (like the Emperor's Spears Limited Edition Novel datacard) it helps to mention where it's from, not all of us have encyclopedic knowledge of the rules.

However, you have it right. In the Fight Phase, if you use the Death To Traitors stratagem and have the Emperor's Spear's chapter tactic, each hit roll of 6+ will generate a bonus attack, and each attack that rolls an unmodified 6 will generate 2 hits instead of 1.

As for Chaos players thinking it's unfair, I just see it as payback for Death to the False Emperor which I see as an inherently unfair ability!

My main Chaos opponent certainly remembers!

DttFE is not a good ability.

What I mean by that is that it helps in specific matchups, but is useless in others, yet HAS to be reflected in the points cost because it can be quite potent. Faction specific abilities are, almost always the way GW handles, bad.

Agreed. I don't think they do cost it into the units though, it seems to be just a free advantage in the Imperium Vs CSM matchup.

I just think the idea of an ability that is a straight positive against a whole specific army is terrible. If you want to do something like that it needs to either be a pro and a con, or the other army needs an ability of a similar power too in that matchup.

I just think it's really bad design. At least with a strat you're expending a resource you wouldn't have otherwise.

Oh really ? Dttfe is reflected in the points ? Please tell me where the points are ? When i compare loyalist SM to chaos SM they both are 13 pts., both have exactly the same stats, same weapons. Chaos has dttfe, loyalists have atsknf. Dttfe is free for them, and an unfair advantage. If my loyalist marines want to do the same i have to spend 1 CP.

ATSKNF is infinitely better than DttFE, unless you're facing Imperium. Then, yes, I agree DttFE is better than ATSKNF-but not every match is against the Imperium.

Ehhhh..... Most of my games ATSKNF doesn't come up. There are precious few reasons to run squads over 5 models most of the time. You have to lose at least 3 for there to even be a chance to fail morale.

I agree that it's technically better in that it theoretically can do something, but in my experience it almost never does.

The point I'm making is that it's better (for the game's balance-not necessarily in terms of raw power) to have a rule that's universally usable, rather than only sometimes usable.

Thinking on that, though, I don't think that QUITE encapsulates what I'm trying to say. Because I'm fine with a rule that's not useful to you IF YOU BUILD YOUR ARMY A CERTAIN WAY. Such as Combat Squads (in theory-in practice, that rule is crap). But using a rule should not depend on your ENEMY'S army composition, or faction.

Well on your comparison something pops up that chaos doesn't have. atksnf. So price of dttfe is price of atsknf

Atsknf never really does anything, marines have LD8, or even 9.
