Hi Gang
Im looking to add a dark subtle pearlescent look to my Eldar.
The scheme is currently Black and Yellow but wanted to add a bit of tint to the black to mimic the below sourcing images.
I have an airbrush at my disposal and a bunch of washes and glazes at my disposal but I'm not quite sure where to start..
So im wondering if any one with first hand experience can point me in the right direction in terms of the process flow or share their results and tips/useful tutorials as well as recommend some colours? Youtube has yielded one tutorial but on a massive beetle..
The threads I found unfortunately contained a lot of outdated links.

Something you might consider is using a silver metallic undercoat and then the Citadel technical paints Waystone Green and Soulstone Blue. I have seen examples of this but most of them aren't as dark and your picture. maybe heavily shade it with a black wash prior to the technical paints. Something like this should make it fewer steps if you are painting a whole army.

Lots of options
Turbo Dork
Greenstuff world,
Testors color shift spray paints
Deco Arts interference paints.
There was a hand full of weird Japanese...Taiwan lacquer paints but forgot their name
there was a few automotive spray paint options as well.

you can achieve this by using GW ranges too, I'd recommend the purple ranges from the GSC colors(imperial purple/liche purple/warlock purple/fenrisian grey highlights/purple wash), the green ranges from DE colors(Incubi darkness/Kabalite green/Sybarite green highlights/waystone green), brush on gloss.
I suggest using the base and layer colors via wet palette so you can blend it better, once dry do the selective highlights, then the wash and lastly the brush on clear gloss.

I did something similar for the carapace on my Plague Drones:

I do a lot of airbrush work with a paint brand called Monster Kolor for lots of high gloss and pearl effects on vinyl monster toys. Works great on minis as well, and there's tons of specialized pearl and clear paints to get exactly the effect you're after.
More examples:
Technique-wise, you want to work from a black undercoat and build up the colors. Some paints come with flake in them that gives the iridescent look, others can be applied as a pearl overcoat that's just clear with flake. Or you can combine them for multiple layers of color shift.
