OK, so I'm thinking of painting up some Fallen for to appear to be fighting my Dark Angels for Armies on Parade this year (I know it's a long way off, but I figured it couldn't hurt to get started). After Armies on Parade, though, I'd have zero use for these models unless I put them in a nonexistent Chaos Space Marine army. So, I'm curious if anyone has found a way to create a full Fallen army. I did a lot of looking around on the web, and I can't seem to find any solid way to make a purely Fallen army. The only way I keep seeing is to use a Vanguard detachment, Cypher as your HQ, and up to 6 Fallen Units of five to 10 men each. That only adds up to around 680 points. For an escalation league, that may work really well. For anywhere from most pickup games to a tournament game, that just doesn't work.

So, does anyone know how to create a full Fallen army? If not, what are the best allies for Fallen?

Thanks

Maybe fill up the points with tanks?

Just use DA codex. Fallen themselves are gonna struggle.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

Just play Dark Angels, and if you really wanna play Cypher, either run a Vanguard of 3 fallen MSUs and him, or run an auxillary detachment and take that -1 CP.

How exactly? Fallen can ally with any Imperium army as long as they are not the Dark Angels.

Shuppet is suggesting you just use DA rules and ignore that Fallen have rules at all. Use DA units/rules and just say they are Fallen, and model them as Fallen
This is really the best option right now.

I second the "Counts as Dark Angels" route. If you want to be SUPER EXTRA FLUFFY you can slap Cypher into an Aux Detachment.

The only Matched Play army you can make with pure fallen is a Vanguard Detachment with Fallen and Cypher, and any allies in other detachments since Fallen lack either the ADEPTUS ASTARTES or the HERETIC ASTARTES keyword.

The Fallen options in the CSM codex are like the Inquisition options in the index. Technically usable in Matched play but you really shouldn't bother trying.

Let me get this out of the way... HERESY!!!!
Ok, then. As a recovering Dark Angel player, part of my step program compels me to admit that the Fallen are essentially Dark Angels. Perhaps even more pure than the Loyalists in certain ways. To keep true to theme, you would need to paint them black and old looking (Mk3 armor for some, maybe?) I mean, in half of the fluff, they are suspected to be anywhere and everywhere. Heck, if you wanted to really screw with people, create an Alpha legion army with the Fallen theme and look. The common denominator is that the DA hate them beyond all reason. Their true nature varies wildly.
It really just depends on how you want to theme them. Are they the Evil Bastards the Dark Angels believe them to be, or are they the misunderstood anti-heroes?

And as for Cypher, I would say (and yes, I do feel a bit of shame saying this) that he could simply be a counts-as-something-else for ForceOrg purposes. Casual, of course.

Go the chaos route and just have cultists as troops. Maybe a Fallen Daemon Prince too.

The Heretic Astartes codex is in a really weird place now where Cultists are a better tropp choice than the unit that the book is centered on. And you can even create a list with no Chaos Space Marines in it at all too with this codex.
