Maybe that is to the Nid what the C'tan are to the Necrons? Or daemons are to the materium?

The very moment you make the nids running from something else and you introduce that into the game you do 2 things.

1) you turn the galactic threat that is the nids into a bunch of nothings compared to the REAL threat that is (blank).

2) you introduce a galactic scale threat that outclasses the nids to such an extent that the nids run from it. Nobody in 40k can stop that. Everyone looses.

Right now the nids are already border line that powerful. Escalating that scale AGAIN not only takes everything the nids have away from them it takes any chance of success away from everyone else.

Bad idea.
