I'm looking to pick up some Deredeo's (butcher cannon array of course) but wanted to know from a purely competitive standpoint which legion is considered the strongest for these units right now? They are Helbrutes and each legion offers a different advantage. I know other factors weigh in like the rest of your list but wanted to discuss these in a vacuum just to look at the potential of each.

I think the top 3 would be Alpha legion, 1k Sons and DG.

Alpha legion gives you the -1 to hit outside of 12"

DG allows you to move and shoot with no penalty and gives you the auto-blow up strat (situationaly useful).

1k Sons allows you to buff them with various spells (-1 hit, +1 invuln, heal d3 damage)

Are there any legions that would benefit this unit that I am missing? Also - what tactics are useful with these on the table? Would love to hear some feedback and tactics from the people using them now.

World Eaters and Black Legion both have a model which provides a full re-roll on hit rolls, instead of just re-rolling 1s, which can become relevant as the dreadnought's statline degrades.

DG and TSons cannot bring Warpsmiths, which may impact list-building.

Additionally, any Tzeentch-marked dreadnought can be affected by +1 invulnerable save, so that isn't really a point in favour for TSons.

Ignoring cover is pretty significant if your going with butcher array as it's only -1. Definitely an option to consider.

MinMax - I never thought about warpsmiths too much as I don't play CSM (I do play Sons and DG). I'm thinking to expand more into CSM with the new models coming though. Does CSM have any strategems that work with Deredeo's?

Is your Dread shooting a lot? Is it being shot at a lot?

Not really competitive but if you give them butcher cannons they can synergize well with night lords for morale bomb.

tournament tested and overall the best are DG deredeos, in actual meta state move and shoot with no penalties is strong. Just made yesterday a 1st place in ETC with a list with 3 deredeos.

What was the rest of your list if you don't mind me asking? As good as Deredeo's are I'm not sure how they do versus the typical Castellan build your sure to see in a tourney.

i faced
Tyr 60 geno broodlord swarmy OOE and so on
Deathwatch+Ik lot of firepower but poor of troops
Ig vigilus wivern 9 mortars 4 LR 70 guardsmen 3 scout sentinels
won 17-3 20-0 and 10-10 with Ig but i played really bad i make couple of mistakes costed me victory, without those mistakes i could pull at least a 12-8
Just a note i play in ETC not ITC is a different format, we play pure CA 2018 missions heavily rely on objective and troops
