So I'm planning to expand my collection by a few Blood Angels, but I'm downright confused as to what's the best choice for a jump pack melee detachment I could mix in with my other imperial armies.

Which HQs would you recommend along with which elite jump infantry? I'm open to pretty much anything as long as it's focused on melee and has a jump pack

You have two choices. DC or SG. A librarian with unleash rage is optional for both.

JP DC and lemartes is a must. User boltguns and chainswords if you want to keep them cheap. They hit hard, but die quite fast. Add some TH/inferno pistols for more punch. Dont use more than 10 models, they become vulnerable to morale losses, even with lemartes.

SG with plasma pistols and PF, with a SG ancient, and the standard of sacrifice as your warlord. Plasma is pretty safe to overcharge, because SG re-rolls all failed hit rolls with the ancient warlord.

And you never go wrong with a captn slamguinius.

OK, so DC and SG plus their supporters are the way to go, that does help me a lot. Wasn't sure about the two other veteran flavors, but they didn't seem as good to me either.

Probably going to go along the lines of:

Lemartes
Captain w/Relic-JP TH SS as the Warlord

10 DC with a few power weapons and plasma pistols
Sanguinary Ancient
10 sanguinary guards - are 10 overkill as one squad? I mean I can use the 3d6 charge stratagem only once, so I figure why not get the most out of it

If you have the points for 10 SG models, why not. 10 vanguard vets with six inferno pistols (one model can carry 2 pistols) could be a nasty surprise, add some cheap 2pt. SS for more durability. Keep the rest cheap as ablative wounds. A cheap JP captain will give you re-roll 1s.

I don't see the point of inferno pistols, especiallz not two on a marine body. I wouldn't be in range and able to use them until a full round after deepstriking them, or am I missing something? Aren't they 6 inch range just like for sisters?

Yes, you would only be able to use them in your next turn. But they do a lot damage at half range, and they are quite cheap.

I prefer plasma pistols over inferno. The 12" range allows me to shoot on the same turn as I deepstrike.

I run 10 DC with 3 TH and 7 Plasma pistols. Chaplain with PF to back them up, maybe a librarian depending on points.

I also run a Capt Slamguinious with the Angel WIngs relic (allows him to ignore overwatch and re-roll charges). Backing him up is a squad of Company Vets. They are cheap, and can take 2pt storm shields. They protect the captain using both the character rule and the bodyguard abilty. I've been experimenting with loadouts and squad sizes. I ran 5 man with PF, 2 melta and some bolters, but the melta were under-performing (not getting enough hits). So I reduced it to 2 man, both with PF and shields. Thats five STR 8, -3 AP hits with a +3 invuln. Not too shabby for 60pts. Only regret is they only have a single wound.

I would prefer 4 shots at 12" distance with S8 AP-3 D2 hitting on 3s for two company vets. An (overcharged) plasmagun is 11 pts. and can shoot twice at 12". No need to get within 1" of enemy models, and get -1 to hit. Of course, i could try to charge, and do 5 more attacks with S4 AP0 D1, hitting on 3s.

Yeah, I'm thinking plasma is generally the way to go for shooting options, especially since my primary marine force are Salamanders and therefore feature "some" fire based weapons already - and plasma pistols are pretty efficient nowadays. And my bits box also agrees with that idea
