I wanna run a castellan with my speed freeks.

If not, I guess I can just take a stompa

Not under any rules?

I know in 6th you could...

Are knights strictly loyalist and traitor only? No xenos?

Knights didn't exist in 6th, so your argument is moot.

Battle brothers in 6th was so broken that it's not even funny.

Gorkanauts and Morkanauts are pretty much knights, right? Or am I thinking of Stompas and Kustom Stompas? Then you have Gargantuan Squiggoths...

Stompas are basically knights, but for double the points cost.

Gorkas and Morkas are more on the scale of Armigers.

You're actually wrong... imperial knights came out 2 months before 7th edition.

Double the cost, but stock with double the dakka, and with options for even more dakka. The Stompa maxed out is about 1100, but it's about two knights worth of Dakka, and then it has 40 wounds, can't be locked down by infantry or vehicles, and has a melee attack that 6a s20 6damage with -5 ap.

Yes, you can.

Not in Matched Play, though.

What is the point cost of stompa?

Thought it went down in points.

Seems like good anti tank for orks.

Does it still have transport capacity? Is it fast moving?

I agree that the_scottsman's answer is definitely what the current rules indicate.

However, I would suggest: get a castellan anyway...

Make it as orky and "looted-lookin" as you can.

I suspect most non-tournament opponents would be happy to let you play it as "counts as" a stompa.

Or, if you are playing someone like me, who believes that orks should still get to once again properly loot vehicles as in much earlier editions...

I would enjoy playing against a "looted castellan" at castellan stats within an ork army.

Who says the 'umies should have all the fun!

Codex Stompa is 920 points. It has no options, other than how many 0 point Supa-Rokkits you want to take.

If you go Forge World the Kustom Stompa has more options, which are cool, but it is even less competitive.

If you want to add an invulnerable save (Stompa doesn't come with one) you can throw in a Big Mek in Mega Armor w/ KFF for an additional ~112 points for a 5++ against shooting. The Index Big Mek w/ KFF will save you some points. You can also try to keep it in range of a Morkanaut or Wazbomm Blastajet.

They made the Stompa a lot better in the Codex. It's still a terrible unit, but it went from being probably the worst unit in the game to just bad, which is a major improvement. It suffers from the same thing that a lot of "do-everything" units do in that for the points you could buy a bunch of specialized units that would do all the things way better.

I do think a person could play the Stompa in fun games now. I think Vortexo's advice is good. Loot a Castellan and Ork it up to count as a Stompa in regular fun games and come up with fun looted Castellan rules for playing with opponents who are into that kind of thing.

I read it was 850 points.

You can add rokkits for no cost?

Deathguard are my more competitive guys, the orks are just fun.

I'm making a speed freeks sons of AnOrky theme, with a stompa and blobs of boyz with some of the new vehicles.

Are the new vehicles any good?

You can in Narrative play, since there is no requirement for all detachments to share a keyword between them, only for a detachment to internally share a keyword.

The base cost is 850 points, but then you have to pay points for the weapons. Supa-gatler, big shootas, twin big shootas, and the skorcha all add to the points cost.

Snakebitez
Stompa - 920 - WL, Gork's One, Power Field
Kill Tank, Giga Shoota, TBS - 413
Kill Tank, Giga Shoota, TBS - 413

Snakebitez
Weirdboy, Fist of Gork - 62
19 Grots - 57
20 Grots - 60
Runtherd, Hound- 35
Runtherd, Hound- 35

3+/5++/6+++ Stompa - stash 19 grots and a runtherd in there if you want.

Weirdboy can toss +2A on it. If it makes it to a Castellan with 6 attacks (including Fist) it has a good chance to one round it.

You'd have to lean hard on the gigashootas, supa-gatler, and big shootas to clear chaff, which is close to 30ish GEQ.

Probably not massively competitive, but I'd love to see someone try it.

Just being honest. You've started a ton of vague threads (which in turn are pushing other peoples threads and conversations down the page) which indicate you don't own any of the gaming materials. This isn't the wikipedia page. Do your research first and then ask for clarification.

Actually, this thread was a rules question so should have been in YMDC but in YMDC you'd have been told that Dakka isn't a substitute for having the rules.

To fully answer your question:

All of the units in each Detachment in your Battleforged army must have at least one Faction key word in common.
