That game was a real gore fest!!!!

Comet of Casandora cannot be dispelled after the initial attempt.

False. It can totally be dispelled. Killing the Wizard won't stop it, and casting another spell won't dispel it. Not sure if casting another Comet would stop it, but we didn't see a line where it didn't so we played it that way. I'll have to dig out my FAQs and errata to get the direct quote, so I don't come off sounding like an absolute heel here...

EDIT: Found it, and I sincerely hope that this doesn't violate anything.

Damn, you're right.

I really had this one in mind with the quote of "it aint gonna stop fify tons of star iron slapping into the battlefield" - BUT: Either we overread the last sentence all the time, or it is just too damn long ago I played a game of WHFB 6th. Ayayay. Good old comet.
All the fun we had with evacuating a quarter of the battlefield with the Comet not arriving for three rounds

I think the Comet of Canada does more as a psychological weapon than it does as a direct damage spell.

We're taking a more prepared approach to the next game. We're building our lists specifically for the scenario, and will be aiming the points total at 2,100 to facilitate an even 1/3 value to shoot for.

Will you share it here or are they kept secret until the game?

Already posted on the Classichammer thread, he doesn't come there to my knowledge.

Okay Moscha, just for you:

So we agreed that we're going to build lists specifically to play this scenario the right way and use those the next game night.

This is what I came up with as the Defender.

HIGH ELVES

Hero - Mage (Level 2) - Seer (Choose spells, plan on doing High Magic) - 160 points
Hero - Noble - Battle Standard Bearer, Battle Banner (+D6 Combat Resolution), Heavy Armor - 179 points
Core - Spearmen (20) - Full Command - 250 points
Core - Spearmen (20) - Full Command - 250 points
Core - Spearmen (19) - Full Command - 239 points
Core - Silver Helms (10) - Heavy Armor, Shields, Full Command - 265 points
Special - Swordmasters (19) - Full Command, Guardian Phoenix (5+ Ward for Bladelord), Banner of Sorcery (+D3 Power Dice) - 352 points
Rare - Repeater Bolt Throwers (2) - 200 points
Rare - Repeater Bolt Throwers (2) - 200 points

2,095 points total

My plan is to block most of the path through with the infantry blocks and use the cav to flank smash or intercept. Bolt Throwers are usually more effective than Archers or else I would have ran 2 blocks of 20 of them. It isn't a list I'm completely thrilled with, but I think it'll fit the bill as much as possible. Had I enough models I would have simply dropped 8 Spearmen blocks and the cheapest Mage I could do.

seems like a good battle plan. are you going to let the aSB linger around outside the units and then charge into combat the following round? Else I would fear that he gets pushed over by the attacker because of his lack of protective equipment.

He will be parked in the Swordmaster unit, where he belongs. Mage will be in a Spearmen unit. I don't send characters out of regiments unless I have a damn good reason. The BatRep above showed how I needed to keep LOS on the Chameleon Skinks, so he went solo. He also died because of it, but he made his points back.
