Does anyone have any news on this? I remember there was some mention about it being ready for Salute 2019.

I see it is an often asked question on the PSC facebook but there never seems to be a response.

The Battlegroup WW2 books still seem to be steadily coming however even the facebook page for Ironfist publishing does not seem to exist anymore neither does the website.

So if anyone has any news to share it would be appreciated.

IronFist has become part of PSC. Don't remember if this was a buy out or a merger. That's why you're not seeing a separate site of FB group for them - they don't exist as their own entity any more.

NORTHAG hit some snags in the development chain. As yet, even the scale hasn't been clearly decided - when you figure gun ranges and laser range finders, every point on a 6x4 table for 15mm vehicles would be at point blank range. Warwick and Piers continue to work on it, but it's priority level has dropped. It's not going to carry the Battlegroup masthead, even though it is based on the BG rules set - the differences are too great, plus it will make it clear it's not part of their WWII line. This also means NORTHAG will likely be a self contained product - rules and campaign in one product like they did with the original Battlegroup Kursk.

Rules draft for "Northag" (still a working title) has been finished and handed over to PSC by Warwick. It is in their hands now. Some speculate that they are waiting to release it with miniatures.

Important to know that it is not "Battlegroup", but a mostly different game built on BG core mechanics.

If I were forced to wager on it, id say we will see it sometime this year. Of course, I could be wrong.

But I know for a fact that it is very much alive and well.

Yes... it's written and handed over to PSC to do with as they want. No idea on a release but they will need to playtest more, pics, art etc... But Warwick completed the draft as requested.

We are still working on WW2 with Pacific next for Battlegroup.

I'm hoping it comes out relatively soon. It seems like a superior option to games like Team Yankee, which just reads like Ameribooism on steroids.

Isn't Team Yankee written and designed by Kiwis? The name is loosely based on the book Team Yankee (which is "okay"). That being said anything from the Battlegroup genre is far superior to Battlefront's offerings so I don't really disagree with you.

It might be written by Kiwis but the game reduces the conflict to hordes of vile, indoctrinated subhuman Soviets dying at the hands of American heroes - with WARPAC forces possessing no sort of individuality or uniqueness in terms of organisation or play style (unless you consider the possibility to have more worthless tanks on the field a real difference in play style). It comes off as a classical form of 'America, feth yeah!' Cold Warrior-esque stuff where NATO forces basically sit atop a mount of dying 'Russians' (because people seem to forget the Soviet Union wasn't just Russian).

Didn't you know Soviet troops were literally automatons who had no capacity to think outside of the orders handed to them by Moscow?

Next you'll tell me the WARSAW Pact wasn't just a horde of starving orcs mounted in half collapsing gun tractors with no variance in doctrine or ability.

There has been an update on Northag. It is not going to be at Salute and is behind schedule in production. PSC seems to be having problems across the board.

What's even happened? Is it just the resurgent GW or the possible over investing in 15mm kits to compete with Battlefronts dying games?

There isn't really any official problem with PSC that I know of. It's just that many BG fans noticed PSC's lack of scheduled Northag demo at Salute. Coupled with the fact that most BG books are out of print and no longer available, many are concerned that PSC has put BG products at the bottom bottom of a long list of boardgames they have instead prioritized.

Lots of their plastic kits are out of stock on their website as well.

Well from what I heard from people who attended Salute, the responses to queries about NORTHAG release depended on which PSC staff member you asked and ranged from 'all done apart from the photos' to 'maybe next year'.

The real question is whats going on with the FB page.

One has to ask what's even going on with the game at this point.

So Big p any plans for vietnam down the line or say something a little more recent like desert storm or Iraqi freedom.

Myself and Warwick are looking at a Vietnam set of rules, but will be an independent title from Artorus Games.

That's good news. A buddy of mine and I were considering simply bashing Battlegroup rules out for Vietnam. We like the system (and I do amateur game design so figured we could wing it until NORTHAG or something similar came out). A proper Vietnam would be great.
