A massive PHR Behemoth for Dropzone! Also news that the next big reveal is at Salute

Big reveal from Salute - so far one photo of the new book and resistance Fleet!

Must say the PHR robots have never really caught my eye, but this, this model is supremely fantastic! Really hoping that the new Battle for Earth combined rules released this year give both the TTC/Hawks games a big revival!

That is pretty neat - though I'm not sure it works with the DZC game's overall feel.

Can’t wait to see the Dropship that hauls it.

Unless they’ve abandoned that core concept that made the game stand out.

I'm sure dropships will remain a core component of the game, but units like that likely get deployed via their own means or appear on the battlefield to start with. I think its a neat move to add more than just air units that can start the game on the table (since that's where most of the dropships units begin).

Despite playing PHR and being a mech-head, that monstrosity is not for me. It's fine in 40K which is fantasy IN SPAAAAACCCCCE!, but for a more hard sci-fi universe like DzC, I can't suspend my disbelief over how impractical that thing is. On the storage side, the Nemesis and the Hades have been a challenge, but one successfully met. Not so sure about the Behemoth. It won't fit in my present PHR case, that's for sure.

Can you believe this Kid_Kyoto guy locks my thread, then steals MY image!!!!!!!!!1!!!

Interested to see the other factions behemoths (in a worried, but morbidly curious, way). Not a fan of this one - the whole concept seems counter to the differentiating thing of DZC.

The Behemoth is probably one of the Type 6/7 walkers which was hinted at in the DFC rulebook. They can't use dropships and are delivered to the surface via bulk landers.

Shameless, just shameless

Seriously thanks for getting the ball rolling on this. DZC was never my poison but I LOVE the Drop Fleet kits, some of the best ships I have assembled.

A "standard" game of Dropzone Commander fields a very small proportion of the troops and vehicles carried by the very smallest troop carrying vessels (the smallest UCM frigate carries over 100 medium dropships and a dozen large dropships. It would require only minor modifications to carry something large enough to land this, and since we've never seen a schematic of the PHR troop frigate, it's no problem just to say that it's always had that capacity. I see no reason that having a dropship large enough to land this would contradict what we know of the setting already. I doubt we'll see a model of it, though; just assume it's landed behind the front lines.

I admit "look at this thing! Isn't it huge!" doesn't necessarily appeal to me*, but it doesn't break the setting in any way.

*Imperial Knights in 40k are the exception, but that's because I'd wanted one since I had the Epic models 30 years previously, not just because they were big.

Having non-air units begin on the table has been a part of the game since the beginning; half the scenarios involve setups like that, although since the community was taken over by the tournament scene as usual, no-one talks about the asymmetric scenarios.

Another interesting point is it sounds like the behemoth is going to have two variations at least due to the way they edited the video. Whilst I fully expect this just to be a weapon arm change its at least an interesting extra bit of info and will add to its versatility.

I love the model but wonder how I'm meant to deal with it as a Resistance player? Drown it in Shaped Charges?

We were talking about this at our gaming club last night - we wouldn't be surprised if the body was plastic and the guns resin or metal (but I'm not convinced they'd sell enough of them to justify a plastic mould).

This sadly fails on two counts to my eye. 1-hawk already added BIG units in the first expansion. This just seems like BIG+1 to no purpose. 2-aestheticly it looks like a hodgepodge of digital assets they had on hand vs the largely well though out and designed stuff Hawk did.

I love it, a 5 legged walker. Now interested to see what the other factions get.

The game doesn't get played much locally but i have loads of models for it just because they are gorgeous.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Well it’s still Dave doing it just like he did when Hawk was his own company.

I like it, and it would probably fit in a bulk lander rather then an individual drop ship. Does this mean that the UCM are going to get an even bigger tank? That would be pretty cool.

I expect Nostromodamus wasn't making a fluff argument but a gameplay argument, ie. will there be a dropship model that can redeploy this thing around the table?

Per the TTCombat reps on the Facebook group, not all factions will be getting a Behemoth sized unit. So it's possible but not guaranteed.

I really hate how TT uses FB as their primary (sometimes, only) communication channel.

They have started to address that somewhat with a community info site, they still don't have forums though.

UCM makes perfect sense, Resistance on they other hand... I mean, how do you hide a behemoth like that!?

mobile officeblock!

All you gotta do is contract a local ork mechboy and get him to put tracks on the bottom of the skyscraper! Then bolt weapons everywhere in secret! The result a massive moving tower of guns and dakka! Sneaky and hidden within the cityscape.

If your mechboy is really smarts he'll put hover thingies on instead of tracks so that it can move without leaving any evidence!!

What's the point of doing a smaller scale game, if you just end up with playing with giant miniatures that tower over the normal playing pieces again.

Might have just started with a 28-32mm style game and have the normal playing piece be more human-sized and identifiable.

Because alongside the single towering behemoth you've got armies of smaller units on the ground. Imagine like old Epic or even Warmaster (though warmaster never got any huge-huge units).

Basically these big miniatures fill a niche and lets be honest you can easily play without them - in fact sometimes a big point sink like that can be a detriment because whilst it will often obliterate everything it goes into fight, it can't keep up with securing objectives or can be taken down or disabled by specialist counter-units that are smaller.

I love the model and have no issues with it's size my main concern is the Price and Quality.

DZC was never the cheapest game but it was balanced by the fact that they used one of the best resin casting services in the UK.

The stuff I have had from TT has been the same price or slightly increased in price but of sub standard quality compared to the original stuff, that is being generous as well.
I have had pieces cast in different resins for the same kit where there all slightly different sizes, mould slip and miss aligned pieces, bubbles bubbles everywhere, less/missing detail.

After my 1st TT order I have only bought from stores/shows with old stock that is cast professionally rather than TT amateur hour sub chinacast gak.

Can anyone say that is not a company rep that they have got better, because if not that behemoth is going to be a waste of money.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

This is just dreadful.

The solution for a dying game that gets ZERO publicity and suffers massive quality control issues...is to add essentially Titans?...

They don't have a clue.

Dat's a big boi.
Good to see DzC is still alive. I'm interested in that game, but there's no interest or activity in my area, and I haven't heard much from them after they were merged into TTC.

Because you still have a bunch of smaller units to play with. Its basically the same with Epic.
Its not as if everything in the game is going to be replaced with titans, and unlike 40k you actually have the room to use the big guys and the little guys.

That said, a skirmish, squad based version of DzC could be pretty cool.
