Subject: Differences between airbrushed and hand-brushed Abaddon Black?

I'm painting some doom scythes black and I would be much obliged if I didn't have to paint them by hand. I anticipate having to correct mistakes by hand-painting over them, will it look the same if the background is airbrushed Abaddon Black?

Why not spray prime them black, small touch ups with abadabadon wont look too out of place.

I can help you with this, having painted many black vehicles including Necron flyers I've done exactly what you described.
The answer is yes you will notice it however there is a way round it. What i do is a gloss coat over the top of the model. (I use future floor varnish but any gloss would do). Then matt coat it.
That will completely blend in airbrushed and hand painted black and you wont notice a difference.

I would second this.
It’s there in a can, mess free, good coverage, why not.

Because the Abaddon black from the can looks completely different from brushed on. That being said, it's super easy to just water down some Abaddon black and slap in on with a brush after spraying it abaddon black with the GW rattle can.

I wouldnt use an airbrush for bulk basecoating. seems like too much effort when you could just rattlecan a black then touch up.

I can never get it exact same shade with brush than airbrush regardless of colours. Guess it's technique itself. Guess it might be possible with lotsa super thin layers but..

No touching up, less wasted paint, less spotty result than spraying in freezing cold or in rain ;-) If I was limited to rattle cans I would have several months each year with lousy priming condition.
