More than likely going to be me, as you can get a mini from primer to podium finish in the time it takes me to blink.

I always assumed that he just looks at a model and it becomes painted.

I'm delighted to have topped the table. I think I've reaped the rewards of entering every month and consistently being a lot of people's fourth or fifth favourite entry.

When I consider the amazing entries we've seen this year, and the super-talented painters we have entering the challenge it feels a bit bizarre to see myself up at the top. There are definitely several much better painters than me who enter regularly. There are so many excellent painters on here, it's a privilege to look through the thread every month, to see the entries from Para, Chris, Modock, Midget, Zobo, queen annes revenge, Lipsdapips, DV8, and others. I often scroll through and think, "oh man, these are all better than my entry, and apparently Para painted his in eight minutes." It's always impressive.

Thanks to everyone who voted, and particularly to the brilliant painters and modelers who have offered feedback and ideas, and the motivation to improve my painting, and of course especially Paradigm for organising the whole challenge, whilst producing fantastic miniature works of art at the absurd pace everyone has mentioned.

I genuinely think that without these challenges I'd still be pottering away, basically colouring in some Imperial Assault minis, following YouTube guides without really thinking about what they're doing, and not really trying to experiment and improve. So what I'm saying is that it's your fault, all of you, that I've spent so much money on different kinds of paints, brushes, airbrush equipment, weathering paints, basing materials, and even a huge slab of insulating foam. Ya gitz!

For what it's worth, and this is in no way disparaging to your early entries, it has been very inspiring to watch your work go through that process of refinement and improvement. Your win is well-deserved for that alone, even without the brilliant quality of individual pieces you've put out. As a collection, they really do speak to your development as a painter.

At this point, I think you've well and truly hit that all-important phase of having a very distinct style to call your own: I can scan down a page without looking at the usernames and when I see one of your entries, I can almost always instantly tell. The experimentation, the new paints and tools, all absolutely worth it for the beauty and artistry of the end results.

Interesting to hear that you recognise my style - I kind of think it's a bit of a weakness of mine that I keep flipping from one technique to another, but it's good that the results are kind of coherent.

Whoah! Not a weakness at all, felt - definitely a real strength!
I am often envious of your experimentation and am taking it as inspiration to try and do more of it myself in future challenges.

I hear what you say about looking at other people's entries and thinking, 'Wow, that is awesome....if only I could...I wish I had...etc'. I often feel the very same way. The group here has such an impressive diversity to it, from Modock's blending and detail, to Lipsdapips edge highlighting, to Midgetgems' unbelievable modelling/painting to Paradigm's distinctive style and lightning fast ability to Vejut's impressive range of cool miniatures, to your own amazing ability to apparently achieve everything you put your hand to.

I'm stoked to have done so well within such a strong community.

Highlights for me this year were Elbows' dreadnaught, felt's Nurgle Marine, Para's Nurgle Marine, Modock's Heldred, queen_annes_revenge's Caterpillar and EvilD's Viper and of course, Midgetgems' Delorkian. It really goes to show the incredible variety of entries that we get to see.

Thanks to all and especially Paradigm - the hard work you put in truly inspires so many of us. Looking forward to the next 12 months!

Completely agree with his statement, you have improved and its been great to see you trying new techniques (and being very good at them) something I think I should do more of.

Congrats to all the top 5, I'm not surprised I didn't make it this year with the level of talent and quality, its been fun to take part.

And finally a thank you to everyone that shared their work with us this year even if it was just the once or every month, this challenge is something I look forward to every month and its allowed me to see a whole host of models and painting that I wouldn't have normally have come across
