It's pretty hard to tell a right lot from that pic, honestly, but from what I can see they look good.
Are you planning further work on them, at all?

You're uploading from an iphone, presumably?
Dakka's Gallery has a known issue with the rotation of iphone pics.
We'll still be here when you get them rightside up. No panic.

I like the darker blue/grey you chose for your army. I'd try using a palette and thinning your paints, though. You'll get a much smoother and cleaner finish to your models.

Yes i second the wet pallette suggestion.
Its very easy to make and costs next to nothing.
Have a quick google/youtube to find out how to make one.
Also if you havent already check out some tutorials on thining your paint / basics.
You already seem to have a knack for neat brushwork so good stuff.

theres a few areas I'd offer constructive criticism here. Definitely thin your paints more as already said. Your colours seem a little all over the place.. I can see blues, red, yellow, black, purple, some desert camo, and random gold base rims... Maybe try and reduce your pallette a little bit and keep a more cohesive scheme.
basing is an important part too so don't neglect it
however, my advice would be to try increasing the time you spend on each miniature instead of trying to crank them out. Actively try and take as long as possible. this will help you practice your techniques, smooth out your painting and really ensure youre happy with each result. yes, theyre known as glazes or tints. you can buy them premade or make them using a medium or water (although using water is quite an advanced technique closely related to layering so I'd master normal glazing first)

I can not thin my paint any thinner else it starts not actually covering the base coat.
there is no black or purple. the grey, the yellow and the cream. But those were basing experiments. I painted sections of the armor in those colors to remember what I did. I am super forgetful otherwise. You gotta gild the iconography in gold.
As for the desert camo guy. I owe a guy. So I mocked up a guy. And the other guy I can talk to about it refuses to share what he thinks about it. All I got was it cant match any legion colors and maybe some blobby forest camo. That desert camo is the first YouTube how to I came across. Is my paintjob imitation of it s***?

fair enough, its probably a combination of the photos and my eyes haha.
Ok well on that, and this is going to sound annoying, but you can over thin. so you've gotta find that golden ratio, and of course that ratio is different for different parts or techniques. it just comes down to practice.
regarding the camo, its difficult to see due to the intensely bright light in the top of the photo, but it looks like camo to me. I'd just question the model choice.. it would be more appropriate on something like a scout with a cloak, rather than a centurion, who is literally a walking tank.

It wouldint/shouldint do in 1 coat.. multiple thin layers. Especialy if the colour jumps several shades.
Obviously if you are happy as is do your thing.

That aside the first guys and the last guys is there any improvement. Or am I just gak at the hobby? Automatically Appended Next Post: How many layers should it take to base coat a model? That normally my thickest layer. But I am using not so good paint for my base layer.

It depends on your initial prime colour and your layering colour. Most colours go on in 2/3 layers. I find base layers can usually go on a little thicker, but not straight from the pot

I know the GW citadel base colour paints are a lot thicker than layer paints. Not sure about other paints or what paints you are using. I would recommend investing in Vallejo/Citadel paints or at least good acrylic paints if you can(some will disagree). I'm in favour of working with best tools you can.
I usually try to match the priming colour with basecoat as close as possible and normally do at least 2 coats. As Queen ans revange said your basecoat, can go on a little bit thicker but never straight from the pot.
To be honest its really hard to tell from the pictures.
You are not Gak at the hobby!!!
Its your first army. So don't worry. Watch tutorials, take your time, practice and you will get better.

I recommend that you avoid "artist's loft" like the plague. Automatically Appended Next Post: I have been watching a ton of tutorials. I even watched a few on thinning paint. It makes no sense th o me but it does not need to make sense I just try to apply it. If the paint gets to pully I just add a little more paint till it stops being so pooly.
