Those of us who are more skilled in painting and modelling get to have nicer-looking armies. Not sure why that's controversial. Having to actually put in some time and effort to make your army look unique is part of the point of this hobby. If you don't have the skills, or can't be bothered to put in the extra work, then you don't get to have such a cool-looking army.

Honestly, the lack of bling is pretty on par with the Tac or Term kits. They'll eventually get to making things like the Deathwing and Sternguard kits.

That sucks but one has to know his own limitations. The only lost of customization (In models, not talking about weapons options) comes from legs and bodies being one piece now.
And thats less of a problem it really is. The real problem with primaris kits is that they are 5 man sprues duplicated. And thats stupid, instead of a 10 man kit.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

It made sense when they originally sold them as five-man squads as well, but they no longer do that. I certainly agree that the sprues could be better designed. For starters the sergeant weapon options should be included, instead of being scattered in upgrade sprues, and there could be more extra bits for customisation. It is really not a problem for me, as I have extensive bits box but it kinda sucks for the new hobbyists.
But customising the models is not difficult. As long as you have some extra bits, you can easily add some variety. Gluing on different shoulderpads or heads is no more difficult than gluing on the ones that come in the kit.

I see my marines as soldiers do they don't have much bling. A tasteful purity hear and there. I also took the old UM upgrade sprue and some shoulders from the Sternguard set to make some Indomitus Crusaders.
Also this lie about Primaris being monopose needs to die. You can easily change the body language of a model by just changing his head position and arms.

I like the basic Primaris.
I not keen on the Aggressors and Inceptors. I don't think they came out well.
The Suppressors look awful. Like Storm Raven bad. The idea is fine, the execution is brutal.
Jury is out on the Phobos(?) guys. I haven't seen them in person.
They all look out of place with my collection, so I don't think I'll be getting any. I have Tyranids now to guard against any further scale creep

Having read the introductory white dwarf articles and listened to the design podcast they have explicitly stated that all the primaris marines are lacking all of the fancy skulls we know and love for several reasons.
1. The marines themselves are new and have not earned many battle accolades. Most classic marines have centuries under their belts and their armor has a storied history going back millennia. All the primaris stuff is brand new.
2. Guilliman hates skulls/gothic. Its stated many times in the novels that he just cannot stand where the galaxy has gone. Guilliman wants to return it to the form his father envisioned.
3. Cawl is designing NEW armor based on Crusade level technology and is pushing the limits of the regressive technology of the age.
4. The designers themselves have stated that the armor is designed with ideas based on modularity. All mark X suits have the black bodyglove (visible in phobos) and everything else is built up from there. They purposely made the pieces have a sort of "massed produced" quality to them to show that the Prmaris marines are a factory line of warriors and not those of classic chapters with accolades and storied histories. Classic marines are themselves hand crafted and forged with millennia of battle practices and from ancient tutors.
If you take those things into consideration you can see there is a lot of definite design philosophy in how the models are sculpted.

Different strokes for different folks. The intercessor is my favorite looking marine since I picked up a beakie.
The gorget is probably the only thing I don’t like about it.

The only reason people are mad is that we dont have the full range out yet. With that we only have snippets of the range. Jes said they designed the whole range before they made the decision to produce which kits when. So, assuming the dude who designed them knows what he's talking about, the variants of MkX all have their special purpose and work as a whole.
I cant wait to see what comes out next.

I have essential tremor, but that's not GW's problem.
A friend of mine who also plays 40K is legally blind. The fact that his army is... not very well painted... is also not GW's problem.
We all have limitations. You can either do what you can to overcome them and accept that things aren't always going to turn out 100%, or you can whine about it and act like you're entitled to have other people fix everything for you.
You've simply no right to insist GW makes every model exactly the way you want it straight out of the box so that you never have to do any conversion work.

I completely agree! Theres nowhere but up in how they have designed this new line and I can't wait to see the gravis and suppressor armor lines. I can't even begin to imagine what we HAVE NOT seen yet. I for one enjoy the aesthetics of the new line because it represents a new line of thought for the imperium. Instead of old and venerated its NEW and superior. Gone are the old ways of stagnation and the original vision of the Emperor can finally be achieved. This is also strong story fodder for a schism between old and new as Guilliman ruthlessly tries to modernize the Imperium and restore order to a shattered galaxy.

I like my Chaos Space Marine models far more than I like the Primaris models. I do like the Primaris ones too now that I actually own some.
I only have the Shadowspear ones but I am not bothered by the Phobos pattern. I like to think that the boot and calf design of them is trying to invoke a cuffed leather boot like I used to draw for my rangers and rogues (thief class) when I played D&D. I will also say I like the the bit on the fluff where Mark X armor is highly modular allowing the wearer to up/down armor to suit the mission. I kinda like the idea that the armor (and weapons) are so extremely modular in that say Intercessors could strip armor and weapon parts to become Reivers/Infiltrators and those same parts can be fitted to other members to create Gravis suits (or whatever the heavy Primaris armor is), but that isn't how it really works in the fluff or would be all that realistic. Neat to think that these marines should readily switch roles in the field even just after an engagement to better tailor to the current enemy without much need of a resupply.
As for the loss of bling, I am painting my Primaris as Raptors which the clean look fits perfectly. However, I would have a very hard time painting them in Black Templar or any Imperial Fist or successor. And not just because yellow is hard to paint. I also don't think they look right of either of the Angels as is. I really think Primaris armor looks best on Ultramarine, Raven Guard and maybe Iron Hands and their successors.

Phobos pattern armor is the only Primaris design that's risen above my general apathy towards the line into active dislike. They look like they're wearing skinny jeans. With the normal sized torso and shoulders, it makes the model look very top-heavy in an unpleasant way.
