Hi,in past 2 years I've always played Astra Militarum and I would like to start another army, now i'm undecided between Necrons,Death guard, or Alpha Legion

What do you think of these armies is the most competitive one?

Thank you in advancr

Alpha Legion. You have a great Legion Trait, and are free to take all the options available to CSM without any restrictions on marks. Also the Warlord trait helps deny your opponent slay the Warlord and their relic isn't half bad either.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

I'd go death guard. getting a start on the army is nice and cheap what with Dark Imperium, know no fear etc all out there. Assuming you snag a copy of Know no Fear you'll come out with a death guard Lord of Contagion 5 deathguard, 10 poxwalkers and a fetoid bloat drone. putting you well on your way to a solid army. if you decide to go with dark Imperium, you get another 2 deathguard, ten more poxwalkers, 2 more HQ units. (and the rule book) you also with both choices get a buncha Primaris Marines. (snag dark Imperium and you can gift the marines and rules book to a friend whose on the edge about the game )

so yeah best value for your money with death guard. the minis have a lot of detail and some fun rules.

Chaos Marines are also in a decent place right now, nd Alpha Legion has one of the better rules sets. lots of modeling options and brand new gorgous minis.

Necrons are eh, modeling wise they don't have a lot of options, and their power level in this edition is kinda meh. but I guess they'd be easy to paint.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

It depends on what point levels you like to play at. At 1250-1500 necrons are a great rock solid army. At 2k units get too much focus fire and die before RP can kick in. At 1k and bellow RP becomes insanely powerful and necrons just become immortal unstoppable monsters.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I play alpha legion and I can recommend them. Plenty of variety and competitive builds.
I like DG and crons for flavor but IMO the issue is you run out of variety for even semi competitive pretty quickly. I'd personally rate the 3 as AL > crons > DG considering power, and flexibility in terms of list design. If you want a challenge try DG for denial. If you like to brew and/or enjoy more potent combinations AL. Crons I feel is also fairly inflexible but does have some strong builds from what I've seen although maybe a bit gimmicky. And not much room for upgrades.

What do you play in your AL lists?

Death Guard. Easily. Alpha Legion has a couple of nice units, like -1 to hit Havocs and Leviathans, but they don't have what it takes to make out a full list. Death Guard are a much better army and have much better results, this one is a no-contest

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

I enjoy a mix of units for functional overlap. Dreads are excellent and I admit I typically use leviathans and contemptors. Lots of cultists even with the nerfs they are essential for screening and board control.
Also a mix of oblits and las havocs. Chain csm also usually make an appearance. Then multiple psykers always a dp and at least one jump sorcerer. I also like mechanized zerks with exalted champ escorted by contemptors at move 9".
Lately I've been splashing into flawless host for the more fighty hq's and possessed. Again semi competitive is what I prefer.

Death guard lack most of that and mobility and most of the better psych powers and their fw options aren't any better imo.. Leaving them with pts denial pb bombs and no los weapons via pbc. Plus morty and friends if you like that sort of thing. Again I feel dg is pretty limited.. if you want to keep with any real identity. AL can take on many identities. The competitive dg builds are pretty well sorted out but not my bag. Do a Google you'll see what I'm talking about.

Edit- it's worth noting the pbc is more appealing in itc format. Otherwise it's more like a defiler that can't fight.
