Are the armigers resin upgrade kits to be applied to the armiger base like the various kits they produce for the standard knights?

It is the mechanicum Acastus Knight Asterius. It was previewed some months ago. First look painted.

knowing forge world it's optional and sold seperately for nearly a third of the cost of the damned mini

The new Knight is based on the Porphyrion which does include an open-or-closed missile launcher on the back of the carapace. It's not pintle-mounted like other heavy weapons on the carapace. So it's likely it's there, but was modeled as closed.

OTOH it's a completely different top section, so who knows if the launcher is still included.

Im glad we finally goy choom (tm) on armies that new prophy looks like big choom or huge conversion beamers.. i like the first prophy so i cant wait to dark mechanicus this up

I've seen other photos and there does indeed seem to be a missile launcher, so I'm guessing an Acastus-chassis Knight of some sort.

Not sure about the Volkites, they're pretty poor performing.

Seeing this was named as acastus class first time it was shown good guess

I really wish they would change the rule to allow a super heavy detachment of 3 armigers to count for CP.

I would be tempted to field 5 or so as a collection. Really cool to get two more.

Problem with that is they would just be tag on SHD for literally any imperial army that wanted to get the bargain value of 3 quality vehicles that don't need hq's and provide CP. If we could make this a requirement for just an IK main detachment I think it would be a good change.
