@Youwasshock: Yes the cloak surprised me, but I think I may have lessened the impact as I added a second coat on the areas I wanted to look darker.

@Marxist Artist: Any progress is good progress, as ever feel free to post them here. I really need to get my High Sparrow painted up as well as I am a bit short on Lannister NCU's.

Just a tiny bit of progress today, got Ghost and my first Sworn Brother done.

First up is Ghost, like the other Dire Wolves he was a really easy and fun miniature to paint up. The Contrast really helped with him, I just added a very mediumed down black wash around his face, neck and rib area to make it pop a bit more. His characteristic red eyes are a great focal point as well:

Guess that I had better do Jon Snow next.

Also got my first Sworn Brother done, given that the Nights Watch wear basically black he was pretty easy to paint, the Black Templar certainly speeded it up as well. After the base coat he got another coat on some areas. I then picked out some parts with Dark Reaper and Thunderhawk blue and others with eshin and mechanicus standard grey. Belts etc got the leather treatment and the face adds a splash of much needed colour.

Ghost looks LEGIT. And wow for the Nights Watchman. If the others follow suit they might look even cooler than the Kingsmen. Maybe. Either way they will probably be awesome.

You should be proud of those Lannister’s, incestuous bastards they may be .

I’m really enjoying the contrast and watching guys who made money off of painting crying over how bad it I should to try and save their business .

Nice work on that Crow. That’s a good idea to highlight the different black fabrics with different shades (one blue and one grey) to create some differentiation. You have a knack for making these simple models look interesting. I’m sure they will look excellent on the tabletop.

Onwards with the Night's Watch, and this time it is the 998th and 1000th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch Jon Snow. Initially I was not that keen on this sculpt but after painting him he has grown on me a lot. Again just more variations on black, grey and blue but I like it:

And here he is with the bestest of boys Ghost:

I also made more Stark progress, this time painting up my first ASOIAF cavalry unit in the form the Stark Outriders. I really enjoyed painting these lads and think they look alright overall. The Fang is proving to be a really useful basecoat for the Stark grey/blue. Unlike the infantry units these are all unique sculpts which helps given that there are only 4 miniatures in the unit.

The rate at which you are cranking these out is amazing. The new guys all look great. Snow and Ghost look especially cool together.

Jon Snow looks great, your army is quite the showstopper and would make for a wonderful intro for new players to see a game I need action.

Of all the Contrast paints, the flesh tones and the white are the only I'm really interested in. Flesh has already proven to have a ton of potential, and Ghost here pretty much ends any debate on white being extremely legit. I had held out that I didn't need to get wraithbone to undercoat it, but having seen apothecary over white and grey, the bone really does seem to be the answer. That magic combo of warm bone and cool white, or something.

@Boss Salvage: I think the Apothacary white over the wraithbone does look really well, on organic miniatures especially. I actually have an Apothecary ready to paint up for my Celestial Lions, so will see how well the combination works on power army.

So onto a rather dull update, miniatures #95,#96 and #97 of my ASOIAF painting journey in the form of two neutrals and a Lannister NCU.

First up is the neutral Lord Varys, aka The Spider aka The Master of Whispers. I really like this miniature, I went for a Burgundy and yellow combination. IMO he came out a touch bland, but todays lighting has not really helped. I also note that his left thumb appears to have been chipped of paint, at least I can go and fix that.

Next up is a very sympathetic figure in GoT, Theon Greyjoy here in his persona of Reek having been imprisoned and tortured by Ramsay Bolton/Snow. A very easy sculpt to paint as he is basically naked bar his loincloth. Poor picture ahoy:

Finally up is The High Sparrow for The Lannisters, a four point NCU played by the excellent Johnathan Pryce in the tv show. Again quite a mellow looking miniature who because of his faith only wears a dull beige/white robe.

And the three together:

Overall I am happy to have painted nearly 100 miniatures for the game in just under two months so that is pretty fair progress. Hopefully the next update sees me pass the 100 mark. I also invested in a new bureau to for me to be able to keep all my hobby gear in one place and as a place where I can sit and paint. Just need to invest in a proper lamp next:

Once again, great job on the figures. They all look very reminiscent of the characters from the show.

My FLGS has a core set sitting in the consignment section for $90, I have to say I’m very tempted because of your work, but then I look at all the extra money I’d be spending on all the other figures and I just have to walk away. I’m also hearing great hints about the game itself which makes it even harder to pass up.

Nice painting desk there, though I fear the white may not stay that way long.

Great work on these guys, that Reek sculpt really captures Theon looking like an abused puppy.

Nice painting station too, I use a bureau but it has a monitor on it which stops me tidying everything away as neatly as your set up. Perhaps I need to invest in a swing arm or such for the monitor?

Man, it took me an age to move onto miniatures 99 and 100 for this range. After a painting slump I finally got back in the groove and went with Mance Rayder, The King Beyond The Wall and Tormund Giantsbane. Ultimately these two characters were great fun to paint, and I am very happy with how they turned out.

Enough waffle, on with the photos:

A nice natural colour scheme suited these two well, with a bit of regal gold and Tormund's distinctive red hair being nice focal points.

At least I have not bought any more ASOIAF Miniatures...

Oh...

@YouWasShock: Agreed, I think the miniatures are great. They are done by the Uk's very own Dark Sword miniatures and they are generally very good sculpts.

@Gobert: There are always more to come...the pile never ends.

So I dipped in the Baratheon set and got everybody's favourite ...Renly Baratheon...drumroll please:

Renly of the House Baratheon, First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm.

I am thinking of doing the whole Baratheon set in the Green of Renly rather than the traditional yellow of his brother Stannis. I just prefer the look and it saves painting yellow. Double win. I went for a green steel to his armour using Hexwraith flame mixed with contrast medium over a highlighted silver.

I also gathered my painted collection together. 101 miniatures , not bad given that I only bought my first ones in May on a whim and also have not touched ASOIAF for a couple of months. They are also pretty much, bar the Frost Giant, normal 28mm sized infantry. Overall this covers Stark's, Lannisters, Free Folk, Nights Watch, Baratheons and neutrals. I may focus down to get a faction or two painted up fully, but we shall see:

The green metal work on Renley looks great.

Cheers gents, have continued a bit more character work with a couple of miniatures from the recently released Neutral Heroes: 2 box.

First up is Bronn: The Sellsword. Not a bad sculpt overall and quite quick to paint up given I went with appropriately neutral colours on him:

And then onto the main event, arguably the best sword in Westeros, Brienne of Tarth:

"All my life men like you have sneered at me. And all my life I've been knocking men like you into the dust." Brienne to Jaime Lannister.

This sculpt is so much better than the Kickstarter exclusive one, i love it. It just shows a martial prowess that exudes class and confidence with the sword.

Two more great models there. Bronn looks the business, I’m almost getting some purple hue to him, which I like.

Brienne is a badass, not sure what the Kickstarter exclusive looks like, but this model does exude that skill. Well done on the silvers.

Wauv! That truly IS Brienne... Great crips paint jobs too. I like the miniature for Bronn, but what is he doing with his hand? I'm no re-enactment master, but I'm pretty sure no fencing system encourages you to expose your limbs like that :-)

Brienne looks fantastic! As you say, that model has a more sophisticated appearance than the one with a two-handed grip. Also, with Bronn, I think he’s doing some kind of come-at-me gesture, like sellswords do.

Have finally gotten round to my first ASOIAF miniatures painted of the year.

I got my Targaryen Starter set the other week and so made a small dent on them with some of the character models. Luckily the starter is only 20 miniatures in total so I hope to get these painted up in good time.

First up is Daenarys Targaryen. Overall not that good a job imo, but she is small with lots of fiddly detail. But she will do:

Next up is Illrio Mopatis: I love this sculpt, so jolly, so flowing and so scheming. I am very happy with the red:

Finally is Jorah Mormont:

"There's a beast in every man, and it stirs when you put a sword in his hand."

Another great sculpt, and I think I did him justice:

So next up? Dothraki...
