Very cool. What’s your plan for vehicle and squad markings.

I plan on keeping Phobos armor marines clean of markings since they should be scrubbed of such things given covert ops nature of what they do (and the fact that Phobos armor is kinda hard to place tactical markings on). For everyone else, I plan to make use of the standard squad role markings that came with the models. I think the white will look pretty good on them and remind me even more of United States WWII tanks.

I haven't decided if I will make use of the squad numbers yet. Part of me wants to use the black number 2 to 'secretly' indicate they are 2nd legion. But I don't know how fiddly those transfers are going to be to place on the knee pad for something that probably be kinda hard to see on the dark green armor. I will probably give it a couple attempts when I get around to placing transfers to see if it is worth the effort.

For the vehicles I also plan to follow the basic layout of how Ultramarine models are done without the Ultramarine insignia. Again, I want to make use a bunch of II's to indicate 2nd Legion. But nothing too fancy. I might take a look to see if I still have some WWII U.S. tank marking transfers around and decide if they might look neat on the vehicles as well.

I currently don't have any plan of placing a Chapter logo on my models. Part of me is thinking of getting some 101st Airborne transfers and just cutting off the airborne part. At the same time, I don't know if I want to completely remove them from being Raptors chapter since they are always going to be called that by people that see them.

Unfortunately, the transfers, like the bases, might be a while before I get around working on them as the models are at a very playable spot for me and I have a couple of other painting projects (Warcry and some Kill Team factions) I want to get as far along this army. Not to mention I will probably be pre-ordering up the new Infantry and transport. That should give me a solid army for a while and allow me to get caught up on my painting.

I have finally got back to painting some more of my Primaris Space Marine stuff. Well, actually getting them to a more finished level. I just finished up my full model kit Hellblasters. I decided to split the box with half assault and half heavy so I now have 5 Hellblasters which each type of plasma incinerator. I actually do want to field the Assault Hellblasters as I chose Rapid Assault as one of the Avenging Eagles chapter tactics. I haven't quite decided on the other tactic yet.

I think I am okay for now, but I think with the upcoming release I am really going to have to learn how paint lens better. If I can get it right, I might have to go back and add that to everything else when I start putting on transfers (I am waiting for the last of the Vanguard release before doing that). I am also seriously considering changing the color of the sides of by bases from the light gray I use now to a flat earth color. I was painting my Warcry stuff and to make them look different, I went with the flat earth color and it worked better than expected with the Astrogranite basing. Originally, I planned to play more games with my winter mat where the gray made more sense, but I am finding myself playing on more brown ground where I think the bases would blend in better if I changed the color to match. I like the gray well enough, but I have always felt it makes the bases look unfinished especially since I don't usually decorate them much.

These are well done. Really effective balance of tanky, down to earth colours with points of interest so they don't look monotonous.

Much appreciated. I decided against dark grey/black cables (which would probably be more reasonable) for to avoid them being monotonous. I kinda want to go caution stripes on the heavy plasma incinerator cable to make them look more interesting, give them a little more classic 40k flavor and cover of the gap areas I forgot to fill. I think they will really look good when I finally get around to putting the white battle role markings (squad markings) on them. I want to place the black Roman numerals on the squad marks like the Ultramarines and Raptors do, but I have never stacked transfers before so I don't know how well that will work out.

Also, totally accidental, but I like how my assault Hellblasters plasma coils have less white than either of the other squads. It gives me the impression that they naturally run cooler than the other ones matching up with the rules.

I have finished up all my boxed set models with these inceptors. I am of two minds about these marines. They have a lot of elements I really like such as: dual-weidling, jump packs, helmets. At the same time, there are a few things I am less of a fan of: spring-boots, gun shields, hood and most of all the flight stand.

Gathering the Informations.

All honesty with regards to lenses:
Grey Seer the lens, then hit it with a Contrast that matches the lens color you wanted to do.

It can be a really easy thing or super complex...but I prefer the Contrast method.

I think that would work if I didn't have 3 different colors lens. And I am too cheap to buy that many contrast paints. I typically use a bright green or red for most of them, but occasionally I also use blue. Of course, that is not counting the yellow I use for eyes, but I am quite happy with the way they turn out now.

I really appreciate the suggestion. Painting them the old way is as much about honing that skill as it is the effect on the model for me. Only myself, anyone that sees them on the internet and the occasional player/passerby that carefully studies them are only ever going to see it. So I am not too worried about it at the moment. It is a really good idea though.

The white decals look sharp with that scheme. I have the Chapter Customizer Raptor decals on mine. I used the same colors for the packs and metals. I used Vallejo Soviet equipment green for the armor & the Rob Hawkins black wash recipe.

Yeah, Soviet Uniform is just a wee bit lighter and maybe a little more brown and at quick glance looks the same. I am base painting my Death Guard kill team in it (also I have lots of Soviets for WWII games) and I am really considering changing to Green Grey because they are so close to my Primaris. I have been resisting the urge to go back and decal my troops all week because I kinda wanted to wait for the previewed models to come out. I have also been REALLY tempted to get more Intercessors with the new Stalker and Auto Bolt Rifle rules.

I might just have to put some on this long weekend. Thanks for the gentle push.

Edit: I'll keep an eye on your gallery if you put some photos of your models there.

I uploaded a few quick pics. I'm only going for a tabletop standard, so I tend to overlook/ignore some of the details.

It has been a long while since I had anything to post here. So here are my Stalker Bolt Rifle Intercessors. I have been meaning to get back to my space marines for a while but starting a whole new game with Age of Sigmar really set me back. Just the same, I did get to put this army on the tabletop a couple times. None of the pictures are all that great as the table terrain was a little sparse and my opponents armies had few painted models within them.

I also managed to put a bunch of decals on my marines. The Micro Set and Micro Sol really worked to get them to sit right on the shoulder pads. I also want to note that I decided to go Close Support for my Aggressors since they are armed with Flamer weapons. I figure if I ever pick up the bolter option I would make them fire support.

Spoiler:

I am kinda wanting to focus on just finishing up my space marine army this month. I don't know how well that is going as my motivation has been slipping that couple of weeks (burnout mostly).
