Although it's used to facilitate the new Contrast paints, I'm wondering if it's still suitable for normal painting, as Citadel's Corax White primer has infamously highly variable results. Is the new Wraitbone spray a viable alternative to it?

It most likely will be released alongside the Contrast Paints in June.

As has been mentioned, it's not out yet, and as far as I'm aware it was only the Contrast paints themselves that were demo'd by the public, not the spray.

However, I can make some possinly wildly inaccurate assumptions about the spray: As far as I can tell the new Contrast paints are like highly pigmented, slightly more thick and sticky, versions of washes. The primer is designed to make that kind of paint flow well into the details in order to bring oyt the CONTRAST. So I think it's relatively safe to assume that the new spray will leave a more 'glossy' surface that paints will flow over more easily.

Again, I might be completely wrong, but based on the above assumptions, the new spray will probably not be ideal for normal painting, as the paint will be more inclines to 'flow' rather than stick to where it is put. Maybe if you paint primarily with layers of washes and glazes then it could be very useful, but for the majority of 'normal' painting I think the new spray will be a poor choice. Maybe anyway. lol.

It's just a warm off white spray paint. (so bone colour not pure white) I don't believe it will have anything special just because its for contrast paints, it's just an easy product to apply the new paints over without having to basecoat them by hand/just a ploy by dubs to get folks to shell out more for a new product.

The contrast paints aren't meant to flow. They stay where they are applied.

Everyone who was at the event that got to go hands on, from what I've read, commented that it was a much smoother finish than Corax White has. Same goes for the Grey Seer spray.

I was at the event. Paint is paint.. Sure, it's smoother than a primer, but I'd be willing to bet its just regular spray paint.
