I noticed that the locked “Primarchs diversity reboot” thread has been featured on dakka’s Facebook page, and has spilled over into the expected ranty nonsense that locking the thread prevented. Just a heads-up in case you can tweak your system to not feature binned threads. The replies on Facebook are pure toxicity and it doesn’t look good on Dakka.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, hopefully this is something that can be sorted and not have locked threads appear on FB.

Its happened before, I remember this thread:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/180/464977.page
Where someone quit posting on the forum because a gak post was linked to the FB page. Dude(s) got butthurt because they thought Dakka condoned the views in the clearly gak post thread and they took their fan magazine and went home.
I’m not sure if its an algorithm or something but alot of what gets linked from this site to the FB site seem to lean heavily into gak posts, like the thread where a guy made the deep observation that Stormcast are the Space Marines of Warhammer. Last week.... Near four years after the rest of the world. Why on earth would that get linked to the FB page?

Threads crossposted to Facebook are chosen by an algorithm based on thread activity. It doesn't look at content, because the AI that is advanced enough to do that is kept safely locked in legoburner's cellar.

Problem is that "thread activity" is often going to mean a furball of some sort on this forum. In the past, I've seen one of the most vapid and stupid YMDC threads on FB because the "activity" was two guys spending five pages demanding citations and correcting each other's grammar.

And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich." |

You’ll have to narrow that down a bit, could be most any YMDC thread...

Yup, that happens sometimes. It's also why the occasional completely inappropriate thread from elsewhere on the forums winds up on Facebook. Anything too cringe-worthy would usually be deleted from the Facebook feed as soon as one of the admins notices it, but they sometimes slip through.
Improving the feed algorithm is one of those things that's been on lego's to-do list for some time, but just hasn't been a priority over actual site updates. Automatically Appended Next Post: JohnnyHell wrote: Elemental wrote:

39 of the 46 threads currently on the front page of YMDC are a single page. While I realise that your response was intended to be tongue in cheek, promoting the above as the norm is not at all helpful when the truth is that the vast majority of threads are resolved within a few posts and everyone moves on.

My bad - it was as you say a silly joke. Let’s not diminish the amount of threads that do get ludicrous though, eh? There are too many and it’s diluting usefulness of that forum. But I’ll not labour the point.
