The reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan is a famous piece of correspondence, which may or may not have happened.

First, the Ottoman letter to the troublesome Cossacks:

Well, at least it shows us that there are worse diplomats than we have today. Not even the worst heads-of-state care to waste quite as much time on insulting the other party. (Let's hope we avoided "politics" with that).
